Brief Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Montana Dietetic Internship Director, this position will be filled by a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist ( RDN ) with responsibilities to perform a variety of administrative, professional and organizational duties that facilitate the day-to-day operations and logistics of the online Master of Science (MS) dietetic internship (DI) program. This individual will assist in providing administrative support to the leadership team, customer service to students, preceptors, prospective students, and community partners; program planning, student selection, and MS coordination; gathering and monitoring program feedback, and analyzing program operation and procedures information; plus, coordinate graduate committees.

General Statement
The Montana Dietetic Internship and Dietetic Systems Leadership Master of Science degree are programs in the Department of Food Systems, Nutrition & Kinesiology in the College of Education, Health and Human Development. The mission of the Montana Dietetic Internship & Graduate ( MDIG ) program is to prepare future registered dietitian nutritionists to lead sustainable health
solutions for people and the planet, focusing on dietetics practice in Montana and the Rocky Mountain region.
The Assistant Director will work independently with very little supervision. They will act on behalf of the director and make programmatic decisions in the director’s absence, represent the director and program at various meetings, and overall, utilize professional knowledge, judgment and skills to make decisions, and clearly communicate the priorities and views of the director and program in a clear and concise manner. The Assistant Director will engage in program planning, and MS and dietetic internship coordination; gathering and monitoring program feedback, and analyzing program operation and procedures information; plus, coordinate graduate committees and dietetic internship site onboarding. The Assistant Director will efficiently orchestrate multiple priorities and deadlines, while keeping the director apprised of any issues or problems that may arise in a timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities
Program Management to include:
+ Assist and support the application process of graduate and internship programs including coordination of graduate student admission and progression to degree.
+ Assist in coordinating and facilitating MS Faculty and DI preceptor trainings including Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics ( ACEND ) required competencies.
+ Manage required intern records and clinical site onboarding, including sensitive information.
+ Engage in leadership service to the University, community and profession. Commit to continuing professional education to maintain registration credentials and Montana Nutritionist Licensure.
Teaching & Professional Project Advising to include:
+ Assist in teaching in the MDI orientation and foundation weeks, and graduate coursework such as NUTR 598 including Strategic Communications, Clinical Case Presentation Assignments, Quality Assurance, In-Service, Telehealth Counseling, and others, as assigned; NUTR 560 Food Systems Leadership for Dietetic Professionals; and NUTR575 by serving on all graduate student committees and as professional project advisor for 1/3 of graduate students
+ Mentor and train preceptors in SFS knowledge.
+ Design, develop content, and manage social media and other documents, videos, and other media including promotional materials.
+ Display professional customer service and written and verbal communication skills for all stakeholders in-person or virtually.
+ Assist in program assessment and accreditation through the development and implementation of policies and procedures that ensure compliance with department, university, and program accreditation.
+ Assist with specific tasks associated with program evaluation, data analysis and survey and report writing.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ The qualified candidate will have professional dietetic credentialing ( RDN ) and demonstrated relevant experience in dietetic practice, education, or program administration.
+ Master’s degree in food & nutrition, nutrition sciences, or closely related field.
+ Demonstrated formal or informal teaching experience and evidence of effective teaching.
+ Demonstrated experience advising students, conducting research, writing and presenting findings, and dissemination.
+ Demonstrated experience working with and engaging students and colleagues
+ Demonstrated experience organizing and prioritizing multiple work assignments, deadlines and exercising adaptability to changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ Demonstrated experience in Indigenous or sustainable food systems, weight inclusive care, food service management and leadership, and/or clinical dietetics practice.
+ Five years of experience in nutrition professional practice.
+ Demonstrated experience managing volunteers, staff or contractors.
+ Demonstrated ACEND accredited dietetic education program management.
+ Demonstrated teaching experience in supervised practice settings.

+ Demonstrates skill in effective professional and web-based communications, various social media platforms, technical writing, and presentations with a variety of stakeholders
+ Ability to problem solve using high-level interpretation, discretion, and judgement.
+ Knowledge of accurate science, trends, and current topics in dietetics.
+ Organizes and prioritizes work assignments, multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively, and meets deadlines.
+ Gathers data, interprets results, and prepares reports.
+ Works well as a team member and supports the work of others through positive approaches.
+ Establishes and maintains a positive rapport with professional staff, faculty, preceptors and students/interns.
+ Committed to the MS education and internship process in preparing highly qualified dietetic professionals.
+ Exhibits an attitude and work ethic that reflects the land grant mission of advancing teaching, learning, and research for Montana State University and the people of Montana by providing access to information and knowledge.
+ Advances the profession of dietetics through contributing to the elevation of the profession in the state to support the optimization of Montanans’ health through food and nutrition.
+ Promote the advancement of dietetics education and practice.
