Job Title: Space Systems Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Journeyman Space Systems Engineer to join the Space Systems Integration Office within the Global Mission Operations Space Integration Branch at the United States Space Force Space Systems Command, located at Los Angeles Air Force Base. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting programs through the analysis of architectures, missions, operations, sensor control networks, and mission-critical systems across the USSF Space Enterprise.
Responsibilities
+ Support the development of mission-specific and cross-portfolio capabilities that integrate and augment current and future space systems.
+ Analyze and assess mission areas to enhance access to intelligence across programs and improve mission effectiveness across the portfolio.
+ Perform mission engineering on Design Reference Missions and analyze mission threads for risks, issues, and capability gaps.
+ Conduct technical capability reviews at the system level through system implementation to assess gaps and recommend solutions for evolving space mission needs.
+ Contribute to the development of war rooms, capability epochs, and kill chain assessments.
+ Assist with enterprise requirements development and Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) documentation.
+ Analyze policy and technical derivatives of cross-cutting requirements for space missions.
+ Recommend practical, mission-driven solutions to meet performance, affordability, and operational goals.
+ Facilitate integration activities across multiple government agencies.
+ Support the development and deployment of system-of-systems capabilities within the USSF space enterprise.
Essential Skills
+ Technical program leadership of a technical implementation team.
+ Experience building, leading, and maintaining a team of government personnel, consultants, FFRDCs, and contractors.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); adaptable to new analytical tools.
+ Proficiency in JIRA/Confluence.
+ Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex tasks in a fast-paced environment.
+ 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as Engineering or Mathematics.
+ TS/SCI DoD security clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with space acquisition (military, contractor, or DoD civilian) as a SETA or SE&I support staff.
+ Familiarity with the DoD acquisition lifecycle and JCIDS processes.
+ Background in SSC mission areas including SATCOM, PNT, NAV/MTMD, Space Weather, C3BM, Space Superiority, ISR, and Ground/Network segments.
+ Experience with developing requirements/implementing capabilities for USSF Space Enterprise systems.
+ Experience supporting Government programs, ideally Space Systems Command or Missile Defense programs, and requirements analysis.
Work Environment
This position is based onsite at the Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo, operating within a cleared environment and involving Special Access Programs. The role is integral to the Space Systems Integration Office, responsible for integrating space capabilities across various mission areas. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of EL SEGUNDO, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $77.00/hr.
