Job Title: Telecommunications Engineer
Job Description
Join a dynamic team focused on upgrading telecommunications infrastructure from Sonet equipment to MPLS Packet Ethernet communications. This role involves replacing 1000 routers with 1000 drawings, requiring significant planning and architecture. The position overlaps with fiber engineering and involves cutting-edge technologies such as wireless point-to-point or multipoint microwave systems. The role also includes helping to select, implement, and install a private PLTE network.
Responsibilities
+ Upgrade and replace telecommunications equipment from Sonet to MPLS Packet Ethernet.
+ Plan and design network architecture, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
+ Collaborate with the team to select new vendors for communications.
+ Design network grids for system implementation and data path creation.
+ Contribute to the automation of grid systems, including relaying and protection applications.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in telecommunication engineering, design, and electrical engineering.
+ Experience with Bluebeam for PDF editing, Outlook, and Excel.
+ Ability to handle design projects and install components.
+ Direct and relevant experience in the power industry.
+ 3-5 years of experience in fiber to home/telecom/distribution sectors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Degree in Electrical Engineering.
+ Local to Chattanooga, TN.
+ Ability to train and adapt to new methods while breaking old habits.
+ Familiarity with telecommunications, AutoCAD, and fiber engineering.
Work Environment
This role is based in Chattanooga, TN, working in-office with a team of five professionals. The work involves collaboration with major clients, such as Southern Company, First Energy, and others, focusing on SCADA systems, distributed antenna systems, and private data centers. The team aims to grow strategically in response to increasing workload. The office environment is collaborative and supportive, with opportunities to work on impactful projects and recognition for achievements.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $50.48/hr.
