    We are developing the Intelligent Conversation and Communications Cloud (IC3) to support Microsoft’s real-time conversation products like Teams, serving millions of users with dependable audio, video calls, meetings, and chat services. We also offer our core features to third-party partners to enhance their products. IC3 aims to make conversations smarter by providing real-time information and automating actions during interactions. Each call, meeting, or chat will make future conversations better.

     

    We are looking for a **Senior Applied Scientist** to join our team!

    Responsibilities

    + Collaborating with AI researchers and audio signal processing experts to design and build end-to-end ML systems, tuned for human-human and human-AI interactions.

    + Design and develop ML pipelines involving data cleaning, feature engineering, model training, and evaluation.

    + Work across the product lifecycle from prototyping to shipping production-grade code optimized for performance and memory and updating the deployed models based on A/B testing.

    + Remain up to date with latest advancements, trends and research and contribute towards our IP portfolio.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    + OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    + OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    + OR equivalent experience.

    + 4+ years of experience in development/deployment of machine learning algorithms.

    Other Requirements:

    Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

     

    + **Microsoft Cloud Background Check:** This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    + OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    + OR equivalent experience.

    + Experience contributing code to production systems or shipped products.

    + Hands-on experience building and maintaining production-grade ML pipelines.

    + Domain specific experience in Audio Digital Signal Processing is a plus.

     

    Applied Sciences IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
