VCA Emergency Animal Hospital & Referral Center, located in the heart of San Diego’s Mission Valley, is seeking an** **experienced Veterinary Technician** **to join our Surgery team and be part of the opening of our** **state-of-the-art, 26,000 sq. ft. hospital** **at:
• 7675 Mission Valley Rd., San Diego, CA 92108
Compensation & Schedule
•** **$27.50 – $35.00 per hour** **(negotiable based on education, experience, and credentials)
•** **Shift Differentials:** **$2.50 – $5.50 per hour depending on shift
•** **Schedules:** **Day to evening shifts available
•** **Alternative Work Weeks:** **4x10-hour shifts available
We are a fast-paced, 24-hour emergency/specialty referral practice in beautiful San Diego California. We offer competitive compensation and great benefits for all employees. We are currently looking to add to our team and are seeking an experienced Credentialed Veterinary Technician to add to our Surgery Department, who believes in high quality veterinary medicine with the experience and know-how to make it happen. The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen.

You’ve worked hard for your credentialing and we want you to use the knowledge that you’ve invested your time and talent in. The skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to:
• Venipuncture
• Catheter placement
• Radiology
• Anesthesia monitoring/Induction (RVT)
• Physical examinations and patient assessment
• Surgical preparation and assisting
• Laboratory work
• Pharmacy- refill prescriptions
• Patient recovery
• Compassionate care for our hospitalized patients
Qualifications
• 1–2 years of proven experience in a veterinary hospital (Surgery specialty experience strongly preferred)
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• Compassion for pets and people, with awareness of patient stress signals
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work safely around potential hazards (allergens, zoonotic diseases, noises, odors, animal bites/scratches, waste, etc.)
