The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Senior Manager is responsible for providing EHS operational leadership and support to Building AP3 at Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky. Building AP3 manufactures dishwashers and currently has greater than 1500 employees. Manufacturing processes in AP3 include fabrication, assembly, injection molding, and paint.
The AP3 EHS Senior Manager will work with employees and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, assess and mitigate risk, respond to emergencies, and manage short-term and long-term EHS liability. Key responsibilities include implementing sustainable systems and processes that comply with all applicable EHS laws and regulations and business EHS policies and management systems; supervising a team of EHS specialists and technicians; leading, training, coaching, and mentoring employees to support business operations; communicating internally and externally on behalf of the site and business; and driving a collaborative, problem-solving culture that supports open reporting and delivers business results.

How You'll Create Possibilities
**_EHS Operations_** : Provide functional EHS leadership and technical expertise to the site Operations team to support business needs based on compliance requirements, business risk profile, change management needs, and performance objectives.
- Deliver simple, strong, and sustainable compliance and risk management solutions that are integrated in daily site operations and business lean enterprise strategy.
- Lead a cross-functional team to develop and implement a site-specific injury reduction and EHS risk management plan including specific actions, owners, and due dates. Work with the Plant Manager to integrate the actions required to achieve sustainable injury reduction results in the site’s operational excellence goals and metrics.
- Supervise a team of EHS specialists and technicians to achieve business goals and objectives.
- Lead execution of annual site EHS training plan. Ensure timely delivery of training including new regulations and standards.
- Manage site environmental compliance as applicable (e.g., air emissions, water discharge, and waste disposal & recycling). Contribute to site annual environmental reporting obligations as required.
- Work with stakeholders (e.g., project leaders) to complete contractor safe work plans, lock out tag out assessments, and new equipment reviews, which may require travel to the equipment manufacturer.
- Provide input to site strategic planning (e.g., annual budgeting, factory master planning, HOSHIN objectives), understand and respond to changing business needs, and foster networking and best practice sharing.
- Record all work-related injuries and ensure follow-up actions are timely completed and documented by operations. Follow-up will also include working with site ergonomic and medical teams when applicable.
- Lead and participate in site incident investigations (e.g., injuries, fires, spills) to ensure causal factors are identified, prevention steps are taken and validated, and lessons learned are shared and leveraged in a timely manner.
- Use data analytics to analyze trends and identify site opportunities that may not be readily visible using only anecdotal levels of feedback. Learn how to use the business EHS management system (i.e., Gensuite).
_Culture and Communication:_
- Drive a collaborative, problem-solving culture that supports open reporting and sustainable achievement of business results.
- Develop and maintain excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships (e.g., regulatory agencies, Plant Managers, operations, ergonomic teams, medical team, and engineering leaders).
- Respond to questions and/or concerns received from internal and external stakeholders. Ensure timely, accurate responses.
**_Management Systems and Compliance_** :
- Implement EHS management systems, processes, and procedures to achieve sustainable compliance and business performance results. Integrate EHS management tools in the lean enterprise operating processes. Drive for solutions that address both short-term operational risks and long-term environmental liability management.

What You'll Bring to Our Team
Position Requirements:
+ Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team across multiple levels of a site Operations team and influence/drive change.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of EHS regulations and their application in manufacturing, budgeting and resource planning, change management processes, and contractor management.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead a team to execute multiple concurrent programs. Experience using data analytics to drive strategy and priorities.
+ Experience responding to emergency situations such as fires, spills, and injuries.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Strong organization, project management, and presentation skills. Ability to interact with all levels of business and with external stakeholders.
+ Proven record of problem solving and achieving sustainable performance results.
+ Ability to mentor and coach other EHS professionals.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS or BA Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science or related discipline/experience. 7+ years of EHS experience leading and implementing EHS compliance and risk management programs in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated sustainable results. 7+ years of experience leading and supervising a team of EHS, engineering, and/or operations professionals. Legal authorization to work in the country/region where the business is hiring is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, and/or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager. Master's degree in an EHS or business discipline. Strong knowledge of regulations including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Experience working with Union workforce. Experience with Lean manufacturing principles. Advanced computer skills. Six Sigma Greenbelt Certified. Audit experience or qualifications.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed work boots, and hardhat. These roles will require frequent walking in a manufacturing plant environment. Travel may be required: 10% - 20%. Hours & Weekends: Working off-shift and weekends may be required.
