    In this role, you will combine thought leadership with hands-on engineering expertise to drive the transformation of the Engineering and Innovation directorates in support of our customers. Drawing on your deep experience in Systems Engineering and Digital Engineering, you will help shape and implement digital solutions and services across individual programs and the broader organization. You’ll apply your knowledge of engineering processes, tools, methods, and program roles to develop and deploy impactful Digital Engineering capabilities. As part of this effort, you will continuously learn, refine, and enhance our Digital Engineering ecosystem, capturing stakeholder and system requirements, facilitating effective communication of digital solutions, and fostering a strong digital engineering culture. You will also collaborate directly with engineers on active programs, guiding them in the creation of Engineering, Integration, and Logistics digital work products while broadening organizational understanding of modeling and digital practices.

     

    A successful candidate for this position will bring a strong track record in applying systems engineering and digital engineering methodologies, along with innovative thought leadership, to advance cutting-edge digital engineering solutions across commercial, defense, federal civilian, or national security sectors. Familiarity with domains such as defense, space, or information technology is highly beneficial. You will actively engage with the broader engineering community, including industry, government, and academia to stay current on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices, helping to continually enhance our digital engineering capabilities. As a key member of the team, you'll mentor colleagues on our standards and solutions, contribute to proposal development, and support business development initiatives. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for success in this role.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Proficient to advanced experience in using enterprise modeling tools to represent complex systems using industry-standard modeling languages

    + Familiarity with multidisciplinary analysis and optimization tools (e.g., ModelCenter, Simulia) and digital engineering lifecycle management tools is a plus

    + Comprehensive systems engineering experience across the full lifecycle, including system architecture and design, documentation, requirements development, CONOPS, and verification

    + Demonstrated ability to thrive and collaborate effectively in dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environments

    + Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and execute tasks independently in evolving conditions

    + Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

    + Experience working with U.S. Federal Government agencies and familiarity with relevant processes and standards

    + Applies systems engineering, systems modeling, product lifecycle management, and related techniques, tools, and methodologies to construct, steward, curate, and leverage end-to-end data driven program content for customer programs.

    + Troubleshoots, analyzes, and repairs systems and models by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.

    + Exercise thought leadership and practical systems engineering application that enables the evolution of repeatable engineering practice and data driven solutions.

    + Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.

    + Directs the activities of designers, technicians and may direct the activities of less experienced professional staff by creating tasking and execution plans.

    + Work across multiple organizations supporting identification and definition of future needs and capabilities to support those needs.

    + Coordinate cross-organizations discussions with subject matter experts, managers, and other stakeholders concerning the development and execution of program technical work.

    + Identify, understand, track, and manage technical and contractual dependencies.

    + Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    Job Qualifications:

    + Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

    + Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.

    + Demonstrated skills in digital engineering execution in one or more domains such as systems engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, etc.

    + Must have excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.

    + Demonstrated ability to foster a fast paced, dynamic, and energetic work environment focused on execution.

    + Able to work extended hours as required.

    Desired skills:

    + Experience with MBSE and Digital Tools

    + Master’s degree in Engineering or related field certification such as INCOSE CSEP or Project Management PMP (among others)

    + Proven experience leading engineering teams through all phases of the systems engineering lifecycle using Digital Engineering methodologies

    + Strong knowledge of DoDI 5000.02 and the JCIDS process

    + Hands-on experience with IEEE 15288 systems engineering standards

    + Experience or familiarity with the administration and configuration of Model-Based Engineering (MBE) tools

    + Broad background in Model-Based Engineering technologies and applications, including tools, Internet of Things (IoT), and related digital ecosystems

    + Experience or familiarity with analytical and decision-support tools such as MATLAB, STK, or similar platforms

    + Experience or working knowledge of simulation integration tools like ModelCenter, SIMULIA Process Composer, or equivalent
