The BAE Systems Navigation and Sensor Systems (NSS) team is seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to oversee our Commercial-Off-The-Shelf suppliers. The successful candidate will act as the overall Supplier Quality point of contact for the business unit and will direct the efforts of cross-competency teams. The ideal Supplier Quality Engineer should have a strong understanding of Supply Chain and Quality processes, possess a strategic mindset, have strong leadership skills, and be able to adapt to emerging and dynamic requirements. We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to implement tools and processes to ensure suppliers improve on current products with robust plans and deliver first time quality to BAE program customers. The person will also investigate, evaluate, and resolve supplier quality problems as well as conduct audits, analyze defect trends, and lead continuous improvement projects. This supplier quality engineer will engage experts across our business unit to proactively mitigate risk and ensure effective resolution of issues as well as support the manufacturing floor, flow down of customer requirements, sourcing decisions, and supplier risk identification. They must be a self-starting problem solver who will utilize their analytical skills to find innovative solutions to quality-related issues. A strong desire and mindset to drive actions and projects to closure without being prompted is a must. Strong communication skills are required to ensure suppliers understand requirements and expectations, make progress reports and present findings. Ability to influence and execute across functions and organizations summarize briefing/findings at an executive leadership level will be necessary for success.

Additionally you will:

Utilize supplier Scorecards/metrics and analytical tools to quantify performance levels of individual suppliers and work with those suppliers to develop improvement plans to achieve 100% quality performance

Evaluate and assess the impact of nonconforming product and suppliers corrective actions, including timely communication with the buisness unit.

Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of nonconformances

Ensure requirements are flowed down to suppliers accurately

Perform Process Verifications and Supplier Risk Assessments at supplier locations

Perform and Evaluate First Article Inspections per the requirements of AS9102 as well as train suppliers to meet BAE Systems expectations

Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and operations to identify part and supplier risk for proactive mitigation activities.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

+ Bachelor's Degree and 2-4 years work experience or 4-6 years of experience in lieu of degree

+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, specifications, requirements, and standards

+ Well-organized

+ Strong communicator capable of working through complex issues with peers, management and multiple functions

+ Ability to analyze supplier defect/performance data and display visually

+ Proficient in MS Office Products including Word, Excel, Power Point

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

+ Experience with root cause corrective action investigations

+ Experience with electronics manufacturing

+ Proven ability to coordinate a team to drive action

+ Experience with metric trending

+ Oracle Knowledge

+ Experience with root cause corrective action investigations

+ AS9100 or equivalent Quality Management Systems

+ AS-9102 - FAI

+ AS9145 - APQP/PPAP

+ LSS Green Belt

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $86460 - $146982

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
