    Description

    Waterford Public Schools has an immediate vacancy for a team-oriented individual. Waterford Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Boys Swim Coach at Waterford High School effective for the Winter of the 25/26 school year. The Assistant Swim Coach works under the direction of the Head Swim Coach to support all aspects of the high school swim program. This includes assisting with practices, skill instruction, meet preparation, and supervision of student-athletes. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in competitive diving who can help develop and supervise the school’s divers.

    Responsibilities:

    + Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting effective practices for both swimmers and divers.

    + Provide direct instruction in swimming technique, starts, turns, and race strategies.

    + If qualified, oversee diving practices, teach proper form and safety techniques, and coach athletes during diving events.

    + Supervise student-athletes at all practices, meets, and team functions.

    + Help prepare lineups, meet entries, and scoring support.

    + Foster a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, discipline, and respect.

    + Monitor athlete safety and well-being, including adherence to school and CIAC regulations.

    + Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school staff as directed by the Head Coach.

    + Support program logistics such as equipment, meet management, and facility setup.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Knowledge of competitive swimming rules, training, and techniques.

    + Strong communication and leadership skills.

    + CPR, First Aid, and concussion management certification (or ability to obtain).

    + Completion of CIAC-required coaching certification.

    Preferred:

    + Competitive swimming or coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level.

    + Diving background, either as a diver or coach, with the ability to instruct athletes safely and effectively.

    + Familiarity with Hy-Tek Meet Manager/Team Manager software.

    + Ability to support athlete development in and out of the pool.

     

    Supplemental position with a $4,781 stipend for the 25/26 SY.
