A Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Sonographer is a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Professional willing to provide diagnostic patient care services to patients with pediatric or congenital heart disease or suspected heart disease. Applicant must be ARDMS or CCI certified or be working toward certification.
The ideal candidate is a motivated individual who is willing to learn, interested in cardiac anatomy and physiology, and has the ability to work well on a team. Sonographer will work with 6 other cardiac sonographers and have a variety of opportunities and work environments across the spectrum of pediatric and congenital heart care at UVA. All duties are at UVA’s Main Hospital or the connected Battle Building in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Typical duties of Sonographer – _training can be provided if applicant doesn’t have specific experience_ :
+ Perform transthoracic echocardiograms on pediatric and adult patients in the cardiology clinic, both with known heart disease and those with suspected heart disease
+ Perform echocardiograms on similar inpatient population in various locations in the hospital (such as neonatal ICU, pediatric ICU, inpatient wards, adult ICUs, etc)
+ Assist with transesophageal echocardiograms in the operating room and catheterization laboratory
+ Perform fetal echocardiograms on pregnant mothers ( _if applicant interested_ )
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Must meet the education requirement for diagnostic medical ultrasound or echocardiography ultrasound certification with either CCI or ARDMS; Associate’s degree preferred. Experience: None required. License/Certification: Credentials from ARDMS as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or CCI as a Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS). American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required (provided if needed). PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping and traveling, driving (rarely for outreach clinics); reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: Manipulation of ultrasound transducer. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 100lbs.
Position Compensation Range: $31.98 - $51.17 Hourly
