    Job Description:

    Hy-Vee is seeking a Software Engineer Intern – Data Integration to join our IT team. In this role, you will support the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and integration solutions that power reporting, analytics, and enterprise systems. You’ll gain hands-on experience working with modern data technologies while contributing to meaningful projects that impact the business.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Assist in building and maintaining data integration pipelines between internal systems and external partners.

    + Support the development of ETL/ELT processes to ensure data is accurate, reliable, and accessible.

    + Collaborate with engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand integration requirements.

    + Write and test SQL queries, scripts, and APIs to transform and move data.

    + Help troubleshoot data issues and document solutions.

    + Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint reviews) and contribute as a member of the engineering team.

    + Create and update technical documentation for data integration processes.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

    + Pursuing a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.

    + Familiarity with SQL and one programming language (Python, Java, or similar).

    + Understanding of databases and APIs.

    + Eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.

    + Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment.

    + Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).

    + Coursework or experience in data integration, ETL tools, or data pipelines.

    + Familiarity with Git/GitHub for version control.

    + Experience with visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) is a plus. ​

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB:

    Qualifications include working toward, or recently acquired, a degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.
