    Job Title: System Engineer Job Description

     

    We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, and testing of the NUMAC (Nuclear Measurement Analysis and Control) platform used in safety-critical nuclear applications. This position involves full lifecycle systems engineering, including requirements development, design verification, integration, and regulatory compliance in alignment with nuclear industry standards.

    Responsibilities

    + Analyze system-level and subsystem-level requirements based on safety classifications and project scope.

    + Decompose customer requirements and ensure full traceability.

    + Develop system architecture diagrams, interface definitions, and functional flow models specific to NUMAC implementations.

    + Collaborate with hardware and software teams to translate system requirements into functional NUMAC configurations.

    + Review NUMAC logic diagrams, signal flow documentation, and I/O mappings.

    + Ensure inclusion of redundancy, diversity, and failsafe principles in system designs.

    + Maintain design specifications, interface control documents, and requirements traceability matrices.

    + Ensure adherence to nuclear standards such as IEEE 603, NQA-1, and 10 CFR 50 App B.

    + Support design reviews, hazard analysis like FMEA/FTA, and resolve technical issues.

    + Support or lead the development of test procedures for FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), SAT (Site Acceptance Test), and V&V activities.

    + Execute formal test campaigns and document results, ensuring traceability to system requirements.

    + Troubleshoot integration issues, validate logic performance, and participate in corrective actions as needed.

    + Participate in system integration efforts for NUMAC modules with plant systems.

    + Assist with commissioning, configuration validation, and system turnover documentation.

    + Provide ongoing technical support during installation, commissioning, and operational phases.

    + Interface with customers, regulators, and internal project teams.

    + Contribute to lessons learned and process improvement for future NUMAC projects.

    + Support audit readiness and prepare required documentation for compliance reviews.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related field.

    + Minimum of 5 years experience in systems engineering, highly preferred in the nuclear industry.

    + Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle and V&V methodologies.

    + Proficiency in traceability, pseudo code, schematics, and elementaries.

    + Familiarity with digital I&C platforms such as NUMAC.

    + Excellent technical writing, documentation, and communication skills.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in the nuclear or safety-critical domain.

    + Experience with power neutron monitoring or ATIP system.

    + Experience in preparing and creating drawings, helping with requirements specs, creating algorithms, and drawing schematics.

    Work Environment

    This is a hybrid/remote role with potential travel requirements to Wilmington for testing support. Ideal candidates are located within a reasonable distance to travel by car on short notice.

    This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, North Carolina.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $90.00/hr.
