Job Title: Owasso Specimen Processor I Job Description

The primary role of a Specimen Processor is to perform specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment following established standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

+ Introduce and prepare biological specimens for the laboratory to ensure accurate processing.

+ Open specimens and pour them into secondary containers for analysis and testing.

+ Verify that patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted.

+ Perform data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes.

+ Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results.

+ Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.

+ Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities when required.

+ Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.

+ Resolve and document any problem specimens.

+ Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste in compliance with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures.

+ Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary.

Essential Skills

+ High School Diploma or equivalent.

+ 0-2 years of work experience in related fields.

+ Proficient computer and typing skills.

+ Comfortable handling human biological specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples.

+ Strong eye-hand coordination to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight.

+ Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

+ High level of attention to detail with the ability to problem-solve.

+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Previous medical or production experience is preferred.

+ Standardized color vision test must be administered to evaluate if potential accommodation is needed.

+ Ability to lift up to 30lbs, work in protective equipment, and sit/stand for long periods.

Work Environment

Located in Owasso, OK at 12455 East 100th Street North, Suite 250. Work hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Owasso, Oklahoma.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $18.20/hr.
