    Job Title: Project Engineer Job Description

     

    The Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in upgrading mechanical and electrical systems within live Telecom/carrier facilities. This position involves managing a phased approach to enhancements, including temporary cooling solutions, end-of-life services for outdated equipment, and upgrades to mechanical, HVAC, and electrical systems. The scope of work extends to utility rooms, administrative buildings, and specialized white rooms.

    Responsibilities

    + Assist in preconstruction buyout and equipment procurement by developing submittal logs and procurement schedules, processing submittals, subcontracting, and coordinating with project teammates.

    + Assist and prepare project change management by requesting subcontractor/supplier pricing, reviewing proposals, and processing change management.

    + Lead subcontractor and owner/engineering team meetings.

    + Assist in ensuring project safety.

    + Review and process subcontractor/supplier invoices and pay applications to owners.

    + Generate RFIs, coordinate with owners and engineers, and distribute RFI responses to project teammates.

    + Conduct weekly project progress site visits nationwide.

    + Assist with project supervision efforts on small projects for those willing to travel full-time.

    + Lead the closeout process by managing punch list completion, compiling as-built documents, preparing operations and maintenance manuals, documenting owner training, and furnishing warranties.

    + Support project schedule updates, daily reports, and 3-week lookahead schedules while fostering relationships with owners, engineering teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in construction management processes, including RFP, submittals, and RFIs.

    + Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook).

    + Degree in Construction Management or equivalent.

    + Minimum of 1 year experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager with a General Contractor or Construction Management company.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in managing projects within live Telecom/carrier facilities.

    + Familiarity with phased approach project management.

    The work environment involves active participation in the upgrades of mechanical and electrical systems within live Telecom/carrier facilities across various locations. The role may require travel, and candidates should be prepared for site visits and potential full-time travel commitments. The position emphasizes collaboration with diverse teams, including owners, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring a dynamic and fast-paced work setting.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Lenexa, Kansas.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
