The Jacobs team is seeking a creative, highly motivated Structural Intern to support delivery of local, regional and national projects working out of the St. Louis, Missouri office.
As a member of our Special Structures team, you’ll have the chance to work as a Structural Intern on a variety of projects, primarily on coastal and riverine flood control and lock & dam projects for our U.S. Army Corps of Engineers client. You will take on responsibilities for analyzing and designing structures in accordance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requirements as well as national standards and codes through feasibility study phase, preliminary and final design and into bidding and construction phases. In addition to our projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, you may participate in a variety of infrastructure projects including water and wastewater treatment plants, tunnels; research and test facilities; and unique/specialty designs.

In this role, you will:
• Provide technical structural analysis and design.
• Generate and/or supervise development of reports, drawings and specifications for construction.
• Review and approve construction submittals, primarily structural shop drawings.
• Collaborate with civil, geotechnical, hydraulic and mechanical engineers and architects on design of all aspects of projects.
• Graduate to leadership roles with increasing responsibilities.

Here’s what you’ll need:
• In pursuit of a Bachelor Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
• Proactive attitude of taking independent initiative, exhibiting creative problem-solving and eagerness to learn, while remaining dedicated to teamwork
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with spreadsheets and word processors, e.g., MS-Excel and MS-Word.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
• 3.0 GPA, minimum
• Junior, Senior, or Graduate student
• Familiarity with CAD, e.g., AutoDesk and/or Microstation software
• Familiarity with general finite element analysis software, e.g., SAP, STAAD, etc.
• Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future
