SMX is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support our PMA-281 customer at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD.

The program is providing systems engineering support of weapons systems on various platforms including technical research and development of technologies, analysis, and documentation as part of the acquisition of Aircraft, Weapon, and Integrated Systems and the evaluation of their technical performance, mission suitability and associated acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and lifecycle of a program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

+ Taking OPNAV Resource Sponsor requirements and breaking them down into systems requirements

+ Supporting acquisition processes to help mission planning S/W and collaborate with S/W developers

+ Performing programmatic or technical leadership roles in an organization identifying, formulating, designing, and/or testing practical solutions to engineering problems

+ guiding the engineering development of modern complex systems;

+ employing systems engineering methods and tools in the development of advanced complex systems;

+ when appropriate, conducting research in applied systems engineering to advance the field

Required Skills & Experience

+ Clearance Required: Top Secret

+ US Citizenship is required for work on DoD contract

+ Master’s degree in a technical or scientific discipline from an accredited institution, or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific discipline and an additional four (4) years of recent, relevant experience

+ A minimum of ten (10) years of recent and relevant engineering experience

+ At least three (3) years directly related to Department of Defense (DoD) systems

+ Hands on experience with strike planning, aircraft mission kill chains (find, fix, track, target, engage, and assess [F2T2EA])

+ Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise is required

Desired Skills & Experience:

+ Tomahawk mission planning experience (on the S/W side) and aircraft operations mission planning experience is highly desired

+ S/W Architecture experience is highly desired

The proposed salary for this position is:

$103,200—$172,000 USD
