    Environmental Technician

    Description:

    **Pay Rate** :

     

    $21.83 per hour plus a weekly scheduling premium (CPP)

     

    _Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range._

     

    **Category/Shift** :

     

    Hourly Full-Time – Day shift - 6:00am-4:00pm

     

    Shift is a 28 day rotation working 1 weekend (Saturday/Sunday) per month.

    The Job You Will Perform:

    + Operate the WTP within IP and permit limits.

    + Coordinate WTP maintenance activities.

    + Conduct various sampling programs, including the collection of samples (WETT, storm water, WTP operating samples, sanitary wastewater and potable water).

    + Conduct daily WTP laboratory analysis.

    + Perform audits and inspections.

    + Monitor and report on aspects of mill operations for compliance.

    + Collection and management of environmental data.

    + Preparation of reports for both internal and external purposes, including compliance reporting to government agencies.

    + Participate in internal and external audits and inspections, including inspections by EPA and MDEQ.

    + Perform routine environmental compliance testing.

    + Prepare and submit environmental compliance reports.

    + Perform routine process testing.

    + Collect samples and submits them for off-site testing and report results.

    + Prepare laboratory chemicals for all of the labs throughout the mill.

    + Inventories lab supplies and orders them as needed.

    + Troubleshoot problems with testing equipment and arranges for repairs when needed.

    + Perform atmospheric testing of confined spaces and for hot work.

    + Serve as a mill resource for proper packaging and shipping of hazardous materials.

    + Excellent track record with regard to the 3 Team Member Expectations

    + Viewed as a credible leader by team members in the process area

    + Must exhibit good safety and risk assessment skills

    + Able to communicate well at multiple levels and situations (including both written and verbal communication skills)

    + Strong team player

    + Good computer skills (functional in Outlook, Word, and Excel – PowerPoint a plus) – must be able to enter data into a computer spreadsheet and then email.

    + Lift and carry boxes, packed coolers, or other weight either by stairs or elevator

    + Physically capable of hooking up, water-launching, water-loading, and un-hooking a boat/trailer as well as pulling and backing a boat/trailer.

    + Boat operation experience is a plus.

    + Work inside and out in extreme heat and cold

    + Simple Math skills

    + Must be able to work in a lab environment

    + Must be able to demonstrate good lab skills with exceptional attention to detail
