We are currently looking for a Mechanical Specialist/Sr. Mechanical Specialist for our Mobile, AL office.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidate's primary responsibility will include the day-to-day operations and maintenance tasks associated with the Airport compressor station facilities near Mobile, Alabama. The incumbent will be responsible for regulatory compliance including environmental, health and safety, operations, maintenance, and repair of station equipment including, but not limited to reciprocating compressors, natural gas fired engines, air compressors and dryers, fluid separation equipment, valves, etc. The chosen candidate will be expected to follow procedures associated with DOT regulations, industry standards, manufacturer recommendations, and Boardwalk Pipelines guidelines as they relate to equipment and appurtenances. This includes but is not limited to; operating the equipment and the lead role in the repair and maintenance of reciprocating natural gas fired Caterpillar engines, associated Ariel compressor units including the overhaul and mechanical repairs of all reciprocating natural gas engines and compressors. Additional responsibilities include completing OMS database compliance and maintenance inspections as assigned, performing routine maintenance activities such as filter changes, cleaning and inspecting coolers, periodic checks associated with various components throughout the facility (e.g. valves, shut-down devices, rod/bearing clearances, packing, piston clearances, lube oil samples, web deflections, cooling fan inspections, emergency shut down systems, fire/gas detection, etc.), assisting with calibration of temperature and pressure transmitters and other electrical maintenance, monitoring flows and operating conditions of all units in the area. The successful candidate will follow all BWP safety rules, environmental and OSHA regulations, document all maintenance activities and operational data. The successful candidate will also assist at the Moss Point, MS and Kiln, MS compressor stations, as needed to assist with mechanical repairs, operation of the facility, etc. Qualified candidates will be responsible for emergency response and must live within 30 miles of the Airport Compressor station facility in Mobile, Alabama in order to respond to call outs.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
+ One or more years ' experience in operation and maintenance of natural gas fired engines and natural gas Compressors .
+ On the job training or work experience in the natural gas industry or equivalent petrochemica l /oil industry.
+ Must be self-motivated and have a strong commitment to personal and team safety
+ Excellent verbal and written communication sk i lls .
+ Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skil l s .
+ Ability to work in extreme weather conditions including hot , cold, muddy, rocky and wet environments and ab i lity to stand for long periods of time , and climb stairs and ladders, etc .
+ Ability to utilize a PC and manage a filing system.
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervis i on and strong mechanica l aptitude .
+ Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a minimum of 50 feet.
+ Valid driver ' s license with a safe driving record with no restrictions.
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
+ Gas Pipeline or Compressor maintenance experience
+ More than 3 years of experience on pipeline operating systems and DOT 192 knowledge and experience in compliance
+ A basic understanding of Electricity and Instrumentation
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
+ High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
+ Associate degree in related field
