• Data Center Technician

    TEKsystems (Chicago, IL)


    Summary of Responsibilities:

    + Remove network cables as part of data center decommissioning

    + Run, label, and stage power and networking cables

    + DBD removal only (no scanning involved)

    + Follow procedures for installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning equipment under guidance from DC Technician Leads

    + Prepare, stage, and perform basic startups/shutdowns for hardware using written instructions and checklists

    + Conduct physical audits of data center assets

    Requirements:

    + High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

    + Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components

    + Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)

    Main Function:

    Monitor software systems to process business, scientific, engineering, and other data according to operating instructions.

    Job Responsibilities:

    + Monitor systems for equipment failure or performance errors

    + Respond to error messages by troubleshooting or terminating programs

    + Assist programmers and analysts in testing/debugging new programs

    + Operate spreadsheet and other software to manipulate data and generate reports

    Qualifications:

    + Associate’s degree in computer programming or equivalent training preferred

    + 5+ years of DC experience required

    + Strong verbal/written communication, problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills

    + Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $44.00/hr.
