    Job Description

    The Service Coordinator is an individual, responsible for dealing with the issues related to the Chief of the Service and all service physicians within the Department of Medicine at (MSW or MSSL).

    Qualifications

    + High school diploma required, Bachelor?s degree preferred

    + Must be able to work independently and possess excellent organizational, communication and telephone skills. Must be able to multitask and interacts well with customers, managers, directors, vice presidents and other leadership.

    + Five years related experience in a commercial building or property management company required.

    Responsibilities

    1. Assist the Chief of the service with all administrative duties with minimal supervision in the Department of Medicine, including but not limited to, calendar management, meeting appointments, conferences, schedules, creating documents, patient scheduli

    2. Submit check requests and travel reimbursements for the service within the Department of Medicine.

    3. Maintain Amion for the monthly service on call schedule.

    4. Order and maintain supplies for the service.

    5. Transcribes and types manuscripts, grant proposals, letters etc. as necessary.

    6. Receives and transmits information by telephone and fax for the service.

    7. Process/update HIPAA-related paperwork and other institutional forms as necessary.

    8. Generates any physician referrals as requested by the chief or service physicians in a timely manner.

    9. Responds to and addresses “Referral” messages within 24 hours.

    10. May schedule a patient for follow-up appointment as needed. Provide patient with guidelines for requesting medical records, if necessary.

    11. May perform duty as liaison between physician practices and call center in addressing patient concerns.

    12. Update and verify patient demographic and insurance information as needed.

    13. Participates in customer service initiatives, patient satisfaction survey, ACD and appointment reporting.

    14. Follow all HIPAA and any other governmental or state agency requirements regarding the appropriate handling of PHI documents.

    15. Facilitates and coordinates patient referrals by serving as a liaison between all physician groups both internal and external.

    16. Maintains active knowledge base of the physicians within the service and their clinic locations.

    17. Assists/Coordinates necessary documentation between the physician offices to ensure smooth transfer of information for the patient.

    18. Demonstrates a professional, courteous and respectful attitude in dealing with patients and all members of the hospital staff.

    19. Tracks the Division’s Continuing Medical Education credits.

    20. Assists in the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) quality data collection for full time and voluntary faculty.

    21. Provides vacation coverage and lunch coverage for other Service Coordinators as needed.

    22. Participates in the department’s performance improvement activities.

    23. Meets regulatory, licensure and annual health assessment requirements.

    24. Assists with the management of Division’s fellowship, if applicable.

    25. Assists with the onboarding of new faculty for the Division.

    26. Participates in the training and onboarding of other staff members.

    27. Participates in submitting payroll for staff and faculty within their Division.

    28. Adheres to Mount Sinai’s legal and ethical standards.

    29. Performs other related duties.

    Compensation Statement

    Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $23.0137 - $29.7849 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
