    Job Title: Quality SpecialistDepartment: Quality Location: Riedman Campus Hours Per Week: 40Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm SUMMARY: The Quality Specialist is pivotal in driving the performance improvement to ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety. The Quality Specialist will support the development of annual quality and safety goals. The role will obtain and analyze performance data, participate in key quality assurance and quality improvement activities and facilitate performance improvement to drive results. The role is responsible to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to enhance patient outcomes and quality performance.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Quality Improvement:

    + Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to identify, design, implement, and evaluate quality improvement projects and initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and clinical processes.

    + Facilitate agenda planning and coordination at quality committees.

    + Liaise with leadership to facilitate standard updates on key quality and safety initiatives from the system.

    + Lead quality improvement teams using improvement science and provide guidance in identifying areas of improvement.

    + Represent aligned areas quality and safety matters to regional and system quality meetings as appropriate.

    + Partner closely with aligned area leadership to ensure progress on key quality performance improvement projects.

    + Participate and collaborate with performance improvement teams.

    + Provide recommendations to senior leadership on quality related metrics and activities.

    Performance & Data Analysis:

    + Partner with operational and clinical leadership to develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the quality and performance of aligned business areas.

    + Regularly utilize statistical and analytical tools to analyze quality data and provide reports that identify trends and areas for improvement.

    + Performs data obtainment and collaborates on accurate data analysis.

    + Use data-driven insights to recommend and areas for improvement.

    + Produce comprehensive visuals, reports and present findings to relevant stakeholders.

    Quality Metric Monitoring:

    + Liaisons with leadership on monitoring metrics for externally reported quality programs for the business area (Leapfrog, CMS Stars, CMS P4P, Excellus HPIP, QAPSPI goals, PCMH, etc.).

    + Monitors and report on the business areas progress in achieving quality-related goals, identify areas where the business is excelling and where improvements are needed.

    Regulatory Compliance:

    + Partner with leadership to ensure activities comply with regulatory standards.

    + Lead quality coordination for regulatory visit compliance, quality standards, and preparations for audits and surveys.

    + Partner with operational leaders to ensure measures align with designations to enhance outcomes.

    + Liaison with system regulatory and quality colleagues on ensuring appropriate internal audit planning and completion.

    + Stays up-to-date with updates to regulations and requirements relevant to quality.

    Training and Education:

    + Collaborate with system resources on facilitation and delivery of key training programs.

    + Stay updated on the latest advancements and trends in healthcare quality and performance improvement.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Bachelor's degree in healthcare management, nursing, or a related field.

    + For those with a BSN; valid NYS Registered Nurse License is required.

    + Certification in quality improvement, safety, clinical risk management or equivalent (e.g., Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality – CPHQ, Lean, Certified Professional in Patient Safety - CPPS) required or must be obtained within three years of hire.

    + Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare, quality improvement, or a related field.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Master's degree preferred.

    + Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills with proficiency in supportive tools.

    + Knowledge of regulations, standards, and performance improvement methodologies.

    + Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.

    + Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing healthcare environments.

    + High level of meeting management, computer, teaching and training, organization and time management, High level of leadership/facilitation skills.

    + High level of analytical ability necessary to identify and illustrate relationships among activities, recommend courses of action based on making choices among alternative and design recommended.

    + High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

    + Detail-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.

    + Be available to be on-site as needed.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    $75,000.00 - $100,000.00

    The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
