    Job Description

    As a Right of Way Agent 3 , you are considered a senior-level agent with support provided from higher-level agents, the Production Coordinator and/or the Acquisition/Appraisal/Relocation Supervisor. Performing under minimal supervision, you will review design plans looking for appraisal-related conflicts, and when discovered, work with appropriate staff and consultants to reduce impacts to the private property rights. The ideal candidate will understand appraisal standards and processes; an appraisal license is not required.

    Other duties will involve, but are not limited to:

    + Read and explain or interpret construction plans and appraisals to internal and external customers.

    + Coordinate with outside vendors to deliver appraisals on a strict deadline

    + Assisting staff with individuals who are displaced by improvement projects through the Relocation Assistance program in this role

    + Document contacts and discussions through clear and concise reports, and assemble orderly files containing accurate, completed, signed paperwork that is organized in the files when the file or claim forms are submitted for processing.

    + Ensure all necessary paperwork is accurate, completed, and present in the file so all claims may be processed.

    + Inspecting land and buildings, including all types of topography and multi-story buildings, including non-ADA-compliant properties.

    Location : Ames, Iowa

     

    Shift Requirements : 40-hour workweeks with flexible schedule available. You will be required to have frequent travel and occasional overnights on a schedule that you help create.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

     

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and three years of full-time experience equal to Right of Way Agent level work in real estate appraisal, property acquisition, real estate sales or management, or relocation assistance;

    OR

    an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting one year of the required full-time experience in real estate appraisal, property acquisition, real estate sales or management, or relocation assistance for one year (30 semester hours) of the required education to a maximum substitution of four years;

    OR

    an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting one year of experience in field-commissioned sales work, right of way engineering, other real estate or development support activity. engineering survey, highway construction inspection, or as the manager of a business for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education to a maximum substitution of four years;

    OR

    an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting of satisfactory completion of any American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers Course, Society of Real Estate Appraiser Course, American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers Course, or American Right of Way Association Course, or its equivalent for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education a maximum substitution of four years.

    + Applicants desiring to be considered for positions in this class should be sure to include on or with the application a list of specific coursework relating to right of way operations which indicates the dates, length (in hours), and successful completion of coursework.
