    The pulmonary support technician role is a fast-paced one. The PST obtains 12-lead ECGs on patients ranging from neonates to adults, from routine pre-operative patients to rapid responses and patient emergencies. Strong computer skills are essential as the PST takes the data obtained and integrates it into the patient’s electronic health record. The PST is also responsible for analyzing arterial and venous blood gases using state-of-the-art equipment. Strong communication skills are vital as the PST will be interacting with respiratory therapists, nurses, and physicians with any blood analysis results that warrant intervention.     Job Summary and Qualifications

    What you will do in this role:

    **Role Summary:** The pulmonary support technician provides valuable support services for the Respiratory Services Department, the organization and the community by maintaining quality control of laboratory equipment and performing EKG services as directed according to established standards and practices.

    What qualifications you will need:

    + **Required Education:** High School Diploma or GED equivalent, computer literate, knowledge of medical terminology

    + **Preferred Education:** Associate Degree preferred

    + **Required Certification:** BLS certification

    + **Required Experience:** One year in healthcare setting.

    + **Preferred Experience:** One year experience performing EKG testing; one year experience performing quality control testing in a laboratory environment
