Job Description
The Pension Payroll unit is responsible for issuing over 56,000 payments each month to retirees/beneficiaries in addition to handling bank and address changes and federal tax withholding.
Under the supervision of the Director of the Pension Payroll Unit, this candidate will be responsible for performing work as described below. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Review forms for completeness and accuracy;
- Calculate and determine tax withholding;
- Performs data entry of retired members into the Pension Payroll Management System (PPMS) database;
- Performs clerical related tasks, such as typing and proofreading letters containing pension payroll information of retirees and their beneficiaries;
- Calculate benefit amounts based on actuary reports;
- Professionally and promptly answers calls in accordance with agency protocol, providing accurate and concise information, and directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel as needed;
- Responds to in-person inquiries promptly and courteously, providing accurate information and referring to appropriate agency staff when necessary;
- Work on special projects as designated by Unit Supervisor.

Candidates must be permanent or on viable civil service list in the Associate Retirement Benefits Examiner title to be considered for this position unless you are applying through the 55-a program.
Salary: The hiring rate being offered for this position is $55,102. If you possess the preferred skills above, consideration will be given to offer you a maximum annual salary of no more than $63,367. The salary is non-negotiable.

NOTE: This is a full-time on-site position. The incumbent will be required to report to the office on a regular basis.

Qualifications
1. An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting and/or actuarial science and two years of satisfactory full-time experience performing mathematical, statistical, actuarial or accounting computations in one or more of the following: a) a retirement or employee benefits plan;
b) for customer service in a financial institution; and/or c) in a position requiring the application of law, rules and regulations and the use of statistical, actuarial or similar tables; or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and four years of the experience described in "1" above. Each 15 semester credits from an accredited college including at least 3 credits in the areas described in "1" above may be substituted for each 6 months of experience to a maximum of 2 years experience. All candidates must have a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and at least 2 years of experience as described in "1" above.
