    Description

    Under supervision of the Principal Investigator and the Postdoctoral Fellows, the SRAIII will provide technical support in research laboratory modeling the genetic basis of autism and testing therapeutic treatments. This includes bench work involving lab techniques focused in molecular biology. You will also perform techniques involving DNA and RNA extraction from human biological materials of different types, as well as generating DNA plasmids for cell culture studies; performing PCR and gel electrophoresis; conducting real-time PCR experiments; isolating protein extracts and running Western blots; primary neuronal and cell line tissue culture; immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry. The SRAIII will also oversee data analysis and interpretation, manage database of experimental results, participate in writing and publishing manuscripts in journals, presenting data at conferences, lead and train peers, make independent contributions to the research, have oversight of research projects, and ensure management of project milestones are met.

     

    Salary Range: $66431.27 - 106830.32/Annually

    Qualifications

    Required:

    + 3-5 years of experience with a background of molecular biology, molecular genetics, cell biology, human genetics, and/or neuroscience theories and principles.

    + Demonstrated ability in designing experiments and/or laboratory techniques.

    + Demonstrated ability to learn new laboratory techniques and implement new protocols.

    + Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and to switch focus as needed.

    + Ability to lead, mentor, and teach other research staff members.

    + Knowledge of standard laboratory equipment and supplies.

    + Good communication skills and ability to work well with multiple individuals.

    + Ability to maintain an organized working area.

    + Ability to keep accurate and organized lab records.

    + Working knowledge of laboratory safety procedures for handling chemical, biohazard, and medical waste.

    + Working Knowledge of molecular biology/cell biology/genetic techniques.

    + Skill in using various computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe products, etc.)

    + Excellent attention to detail, for accurate data entry and analysis.

    + General knowledge of University procedures and compliance with Environmental Health and Safety guidelines.

    + Willingness to work occasional overtime in order to meet deadlines related to grant applications and publications.

    + Experience in maintaining 100+ cell lines in culture from feeding to passaging, to freezing.

    + Experience in gene editing using CRISPR in high throughput (20+ genes targeted each time).

    Strongly Preferred:

    + B.S. degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related field.
