Utility Helper
As a Utility Helper, you will ensure safety in machine areas, handle materials within the warehouse, and operate equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts. Your role will involve banding and packaging materials, generating and entering inventory tags, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. You will also be responsible for cutting cores, staging supplies, and loading materials into machines.

First: 6a - 2:30p or 7a - 3:30p depending on orders that day

Essential Skills
+ 2-3 years of manufacturing experience.
+ Forklift experience.
+ Computer proficiency.
+ Experience in packaging, production line, and machine operation.
Job Description
+ Work safely at and around machine areas.
+ Pull and move coils and skids within the warehouse.
+ Operate an overhead crane and forklift.
+ Band and package materials according to customer specifications.
+ Generate inventory tags and accurately enter data into the computer system.
+ Use precision tools such as tape measures and cutters.
+ Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area throughout the day.
+ Cut cores for the machine operator.
+ Stage needed supplies for orders and weigh finished skids for accuracy.
+ Band and skid finished products.
+ Load materials into machines.
+ Clean work areas.

+ Experience with hand tools.
+ Inspection skills.
+ Tape measure proficiency.

Work Environment
The work environment is a standard steel processing setting, which can be hot but is well-organized and clean. Safety is a top priority, and you will be expected to work safely and hold others accountable for safety as well. You will work with one operator and possibly additional helpers. Protective gear including steel-toe boots, helmets, glasses, earplugs, and long sleeves is mandatory and will be provided. Work hours are from 6 am to 2:30 pm or 7 am to 3:30 pm, depending on the day and orders.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alsip, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
