Job Title: Welding Engineer
Job Description
As a Welding Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting customer and project needs, ensuring welding procedures are meticulously documented, and overseeing shop floor activities. Your expertise will contribute to continuous improvement and research in welding techniques, ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained.
Responsibilities
+ Review customer specifications and identify welding requirements.
+ Communicate with customers to resolve welding-related issues.
+ Ensure special customer requirements are included in Inspection Test Plans.
+ Maintain and develop Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
+ Create and update welder qualification documentation.
+ Maintain welder continuity and issue monthly reports.
+ Supervise welding technicians and shop floor welding activities.
+ Monitor welder performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
+ Oversee testing of new welder applicants.
+ Provide welding-related training to welders, fitters, and assemblers.
+ Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Research new welding and fabrication methods for efficiency.
+ Perform R&D on welding techniques, equipment, and processes.
+ May take on project management responsibilities.
+ Open to other tasks as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Essential Skills
+ Development and maintenance of WPS/PQRs.
+ Welder qualification and testing.
+ Welding technique R&D.
+ Proficiency in MT, RT, UT, VT methods.
+ SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ B.S. in Engineering (Welding, Metallurgical, Mechanical, or Civil).
+ 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
+ Strong understanding of steel fabrication, welding, heat treatment, mechanical and non-destructive testing.
+ Familiarity with industry standards (AWS, ASTM, NAVSEA, MIL-SPEC, etc.).
+ Ability to read and write WPS and PQR documentation.
+ Detail-oriented and takes pride in work.
+ Energetic, self-motivated, and eager to contribute.
+ Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
+ Effective communicator (verbal and written).
+ Team player with ability to work independently.
+ Capable of multitasking and prioritizing tasks.
+ PMP or PE certification is a plus.
Work Environment
The position requires working on-site, Monday through Friday, during the first shift with a flexible start time. The work environment is collaborative and team-oriented, where contributions are recognized, and ideas are valued.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Saint Louis, Missouri.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $58.00/hr.
