Job Title: Cytogenetics Technologist
Job Description
As a Cytogenetics Technologist, you will perform cytogenetic analysis to assess the chromosomal state of samples, including chromosome, FISH, and/or microarray analysis. You will be responsible for performing assigned tissue culture and initiating and maintaining cell cultures using sterile techniques. Additionally, you will operate automated cell scanners and analyze metaphases using brightfield microscopy, accurately recording raw data and preparing final reports according to current ISCN standards.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct chromosome analysis, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and microarray analysis.
+ Perform all aspects of specimen processing and operate automated cell scanners.
+ Maintain and initiate cell cultures using sterile techniques.
+ Collaborate closely with medical directors and senior staff.
+ Ensure compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, OSHA, CLIA, and Joint Commission Regulations.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in chromosome analysis and karyotyping.
+ Experience with fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) and cytogenetic testing.
+ Strong molecular biology skills.
+ ASCP certification.
+ At least 2 years of relevant experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Clinical Lab Science.
+ Experience in high complexity testing and specimen handling.
+ Excellent communication skills and professionalism.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.40 - $52.40/hr.
