We are seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical expertise and support for our blown film extrusion operations. This role involves troubleshooting, process improvement, documentation, and collaboration on new product introductions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership in safety and maintain a significant presence on the shop floor.
Responsibilities
+ Provide daily technical support for 35 blown film extrusion lines.
+ Own process problems and drive solutions to minimize manufacturing impact.
+ Assist Operations and Maintenance with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
+ Identify and implement process improvements for technology, capacity, reliability, throughput, quality, yields, costs, and safety.
+ Lead or support new process implementations and capital projects, including scope development, commissioning, start-up, and training.
+ Develop and execute improvement plans for process and equipment standardization.
+ Develop and document validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ) for food and medical applications.
+ Ensure documentation of design basis and process/line capability.
+ Develop and enforce standard operating procedures, best practices, and safety protocols.
+ Provide technical leadership for new or revised film products, collaborating with R&D, sales, quality, and operations for trials and scale-ups.
+ Demonstrate leadership in safety and comply with EH&S regulations.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in manufacturing engineering, process improvement, and production environment.
+ Proficiency in Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing principles.
+ Strong project management skills.
+ Ability to champion change in a manufacturing environment.
+ Data-driven decision making.
+ Strong written and oral communication skills.
+ Self-initiative and ability to work independently.
+ Ability to handle multiple tasks and a high-volume workload with shifting and competing responsibilities.
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in a process/production environment; blown film extrusion or plastics processing experience is a plus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Six Sigma and LEAN training and experience executing projects using these methodologies.
+ Experience with process automation and control including PLCs and other process instrumentation and data historians.
+ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
+ Experience using data to drive improvements in OEE, capacity release, cycle time, yield, cost, and quality.
+ Application of FMEA to identify potential failures and implement improvements to minimize risk.
+ Application of technical knowledge and RCA to diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve equipment, process, and quality issues.
+ Degree in an engineering discipline, including but not limited to Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial engineering.
Work Environment
The position involves working in both office and factory settings. Employees are regularly required to sit and stand for moderate periods and use hand tools, micrometers, and microscopes. The role involves occasionally stooping, regularly lifting up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.67 - $52.88/hr.
