    Job Title: Staff Software Engineer/Embedded Software Developer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Software Engineer/Embedded Software Developer to join our team supporting a cutting-edge space and satellite program. This hybrid role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in agile environments and possesses deep technical expertise in embedded C++ development within real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as VxWorks. The successful candidate will split their time between engineering responsibilities and hands-on software development, ensuring agile best practices are followed while contributing directly to mission-critical software components.

    Responsibilities

    + Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.

    + Guide the team on Agile principles and help remove impediments to progress.

    + Collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to ensure backlog clarity and prioritization.

    + Track and report team metrics to drive continuous improvement.

    + Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and transparency.

    + Utilize Git for version control and collaboration across development teams.

    + Design, develop, and maintain embedded software in C++ for real-time systems.

    + Work within the VxWorks RTOS environment to support satellite and space system functionality.

    + Perform unit testing, integration testing, and debugging of embedded systems.

    + Collaborate with systems engineers and other developers to meet performance and reliability requirements.

    + Ensure compliance with software development standards and documentation.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

    + 5+ years of experience in embedded software development using C++.

    + Strong experience with VxWorks and real-time operating systems.

    + Proven experience working in real-time environments with strict timing and reliability constraints.

    + Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.

    + Proficiency with Git for source control and team collaboration.

    + Excellent communication and leadership skills.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience in aerospace, defense, or satellite systems.

    + Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Rally.

    + Experience with hardware/software integration and low-level debugging.

    + Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.

     

    Work Environment

     

    Onsite 4 days per week in Huntington Beach, CA with a 9/80 schedule.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $90.00/hr.
