- NANA Regional Corporation (Herndon, VA)

We are seeking a dynamic Director of Business Development and Capture for our Emerging Markets Group (EMG). This role demands a highly motivated, self-starting individual who can drive growth across the full business development lifecycle – identification, capture management, solutions development, proposal writing/reviewing, and post-award handoff.
The Director will focus on differentiated high-end IT and technology solutions (cyber, cloud engineering), software development, digital automation (RPA, AI, ML), and related mission support services for Federal Law Enforcement agencies. Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development for EMG, you will spearhead efforts to expand Akima’s client base, retain expiring programs, penetrate new markets, and win new business.
The ideal candidate will possess deep relationships and demonstrated experience with Federal Law Enforcement – particularly the Department of Justice (DOJ) and its components (e.g., FBI, DEA, ATF, USMS) – as well as adjacent mission areas involving fraud, financial crimes, transnational organized crime and other illicit activity investigations within ICE/HSI, Treasury, IRS, SEC, and related agencies. Successful experience winning work on the FBI’s legacy IT Supplies and Support Services (ITSSS) contract is highly valued as this role will be critical in maximizing Akima’s recently awarded position on the follow-on ITSSS-2 BPA.
Responsibilities
+ Build and maintain a pipeline of opportunities that align with EMG’s growth markets
+ Lead new business pursuits across the BD lifecycle – from client engagement through capture and proposal submission – focused on key technology solutions that drive step-function growth by maximally leveraging Akima’s complete portfolio.
+ Establish, nurture, and expand close relationships with existing and prospective customers, internal stakeholders, industry partners, and market influencers.
+ Develop and execute customer call plans, assess the competitive and market landscape, and implement differentiated win strategies.
+ Represent Akima at industry groups, professional societies, conferences and trade events, and other outreach and networking events.
+ Respond to Government market research inquiries (e.g. RFIs, Sources Sought Notices, etc.)
+ Shape acquisition strategies using client relationships, company capabilities and experience, white papers, partners, and contracting vehicles.
+ Leveraging strong business acumen, lead internal gate reviews, develop capture strategies, and prepare business cases for new opportunities.
+ Support negotiation of teaming agreement and contract discussions.
+ Collaborate with technical, program, and proposal teams to design, review, and publish proposal responses.
+ Contribute directly to proposal development (writing, reviewing, and color team participation).
+ Ensure pipeline accuracy, including probability of win assessments, revenue projections, and inputs to budget/forecasting.
+ Work with the company leaders (Presidents and General Managers) that you will support to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and drive business growth.
+ Drive growth on Akima’s FBI ITSSS-2 BPA by identifying task order opportunities, strengthening relationships with FBI stakeholders, and leading targeted capture and proposal efforts to ensure sustained contract utilization and revenue expansion.
