The opportunity:

The Treasury senior accountant is responsible for the accounting activities related to all cash transactions including debt, interest and a large pool of cash accounts. This individual will be reporting to the supervisor of treasury accounting and will be working closely with the treasury department and business partners across varies areas. This critical position has significant impact on bank reconciliations and presentation of cash in financial statements and will play a major role in establishing the future vision of the treasury accounting team.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

* Analyze and record transactions to properly reconcile debt and interest

* Assist with cash accounts ensuring proper recording and reconciling on a timely basis

* Work with Treasury and local facilities around the globe to determine the appropriate accounting treatment for cash activities with a high degree of accuracy and tight deadlines

* Determine and apply proper accounting related to movement in cash, debt and interest via Smurfit Westrock financial system (JDE)

* Become a subject matter expert regarding treasury accounting activities as it relates to period close accounting processes and account reconciliations (BlackLine)

* Assist and research of treasury activities with inquiries from internal and external auditors

* Perform ad hoc analysis on reconciling items, working with other areas to identify and resolve the issue.

* Collaborate with business partners across varies areas to identify and remediate process inefficiencies that are causing a high number of reconciling items.

* Identify opportunities and implement business process changes that leverage enterprise tools in place (Coupa and BlackLine).

* Explore continuous improvement initiatives including robotic process automation, matching automation (BlackLine) and journal entry automation (Coupa)

* Ensure compliance with applicable internal controls

* Other duties as assigned by management

What you need to succeed:

* Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Accounting required

* 3-5 years of progressively more complex roles in Accounting, preferably some within a shared service environment.

* Advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel

* Experience with JD Edwards / Hyperion HFM and Essbase / Coupa / Blackline.

* Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

* Strong problem-solving skills - listening, compiling facts and building consensus to bring conclusion to issues.

* Must be flexible and adaptable
