    Job Description Summary

    The Generator Controls Field Service Engineer (FSE) will participate as a Regional Service Team member. This role is responsible for providing the best services care for our customers across North America. We are a Regional Service organization within the GE Vernova Gas Power, Control Solutions and Services organization headquartered in Colorado.

     

    The Generator Controls FSE will manage all resources and logistics required to perform services and maintenance activities on customers' site/property. These activities contribute to, maintain, repair, and refurbish sold or existing products. Includes all types of maintenance service (preventive and remedial), manage maintenance facilities and field services engineering. The FSE is responsible for project specific operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. This role functions with some autonomy but is guided by established policies or review of end results.

     

    The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

    Job Description

    Roles and Responsibilities

    + Support execution of retrofit projects including installation, power up, and commissioning of one or more of the following: Excitation control solutions (EX2100e, EX2100, EX2000 DFE), Static Starter control solutions (LS2100, LS2100e), HMI upgrades, and TIL implementation.

    + Support warranty administration and troubleshooting issues. Address customer service requests and lead customer issue resolution during warranty and post-warranty periods.

    + Be responsible for pre-planning, site scheduling, field engineering, commissioning, control system startup, and project handover to customers.

    + Work closely with project managers, customers, and supplier representatives to ensure financial performance, quality project installation, timeliness, and customer satisfaction.

    + Respond to customer call out services requests.

    + Timely completion of service time sheets, trip reports, invoicing packages, and other administrative requirements including pre-mobilization and de-mobilization meetings and procedures.

    + Work closely with other functions to identify and register change order opportunities as well as review proposals for new opportunities, formulate and present GEV solution to customers.

    + Interface with GEV Gas Power Services, GEV Steam Power Services, and other GEV Businesses.

    + Significant travel and over-time will be expected up to 50%.

    + Other duties as required. Secondary duties may possibly include participation in FAT (factory acceptance test); participation in development of overall controls strategy for projects; design of hardware and software configuration packages according to project requirements; design of operator interface graphics and network topologies; release of system design to manufacturing.

    Required Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial automation or Electronic Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.

    + Must have experience in one or more of the following: Excitation control solutions (EX2100e, EX2100, EX2000 DFE), Static Starter control solutions (LS2100, LS2100e), HMI upgrades, and TIL implementation.

    + Minimum 3- 5 years of field engineering experience in power generation, industrial plant automation, DCS (distributed control system), PLC (programmable logic controller) and/or similar industry sectors.

    + Previous industrial field service experience.

    + Controls experience to equipment that functions as a prime mover.

    + Electronics and/or mechanical trouble shooting skills.

    + Computer skills, familiarity with MS Office, TCP/IP configuration.

    + Ability to learn other software tool applications to support HMI and application changes (Cimplicity, Intellution, Toolbox, GAP, etc.).

    Eligibility Requirements

    + Travel 70%, as required.

    + Possess a valid driver's license and passport.

    + This is a remote role and must reside in the U.S.

    Desired Characteristics

    + Prior mechanical / maintenance experience preferred.

    + Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.

    + Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; able to work independently; ability to prioritize, organize work, and meet deadlines.

    + Ability to set and meet aggressive goals and targets.

    + Ability to troubleshoot control and instrumentation systems at all levels, from field devices to control system, and networking.

    + Must be able to generate immediate credibility with customers, suppliers, GE project management / engineering communities.

    + Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, geographically dispersed team environment is required.

    + Effective written and oral communication skills with excellent spoken and written English skills.

    + Customer-focused skills, demonstrated by experience in field services, customer services or project management, are essential.

     

    _Pay Transparency_

     

    _The base pay range for this position is_ $91,400 - $152,000 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% performance bonus. ​

     

    *The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
