    Compensation

    $41,334 - $56,970 (yearly)

    * Offers based on education and years of relevant experience

    Primary Responsibilities

    + Safely and effectively managing a 6:1:1 specialized classroom

    + Write specific lesson plans that adhere to the Common Core; are chronologically and developmentally appropriate; reflect differentiated instruction techniques; incorporate technology, and are creative

    + Effectively incorporating support staff into the classroom program

    + Develop Individualized Education Plans ("IEPs") in accordance with current New York State Education and Gateway practice, procedures and policies

    + Fulfill other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications

    + New York State Certification in appropriate grade levels and as a condition of future employment must be working toward, or be willing to pursue, appropriate Special Education certification in appropriate grade levels

    + Ability to demonstrate sensitivity, compassion, patience, and active listening

    + Ability to effectively work with individuals from a diverse array of cultural backgrounds, beliefs, customs, and lifestyles

    + Ability to physically restrain if required

    Preferred Qualifications

    + New York State Certification in Special Education (7-12)
