Occasional travel will be needed to support classes in the Southwestern PA Urban Region.
This is primarily a Weekday / Daylight position, but occasional weekends or off shift coverage will be needed to support the 24/7 team.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Pediatric Medical-Surgical Clinical Education Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in advancing nursing practice, supporting clinical excellence, and fostering professional growth among nurses caring for pediatric patients in a medical-surgical setting.
As a Clinical Education Specialist, you will design, implement, and evaluate educational programs that enhance clinical competency, promote evidence-based care, and align with organizational goals. You'll serve as a mentor, resource, and change agent-empowering nurses to deliver safe, compassionate, and developmentally appropriate care to children and their families.
Title and Rate of Pay will be based on Education and Experience
Responsibilities:
+ Leads and participates in quality improvement initiatives, using evidence - based research to enhance clinical care and mentor staff in related projects.
+ Serves as a mentor and resource for new staff, preceptors, and interdisciplinary teams; promotes best practices through education and dissemination.
+ Supports staff development through orientation, continuing education, and competency assessments; identifies learning needs and develops targeted programs.
+ Demonstrates initiative and independence in managing priorities, completing complex assignments, and contributing to department and hospital-wide goals.
+ Maintains certifications, engages in professional organizations, and promotes patient education and safety.
+ Facilitates student learning experiences and develops specialty courses; provides leadership in clinical and specialty projects.
+ Builds strong internal and external relationships through positive communication, trust-building, and clear information sharing.
+ Assists in verifying and addressing competency gaps among direct care staff through training and evaluation.
+ MSN or Master's in related field, OR DNP
+ if masters in related field required, BSN required
+ Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience.
+ Relevant teaching experience.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
+ Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.
+ UPMC approved certification preferred
+ CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Registered Nurse (RN)
+ Act 33 / Act 34 / Act 73 with renewal
*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
