We are seeking an experienced and motivated Network Administrator to help monitor, maintain, and optimize our NSS classified SIPRNET environment. As an Intermediate Network Administrator, you will work alongside cybersecurity staff to operate, troubleshoot, and analyze network performance for our Cisco ISR 4331 router, Catalyst 9200 switches, Palo Alto PA-440 firewall, and Cisco Firepower 1010 FTD systems supporting Windows Server 2022 and Windows 11 Enterprise infrastructure within a highly secure, classified network environment. This multi-faceted position combines network engineering and operations monitoring using Splunk Enterprise, hands-on technical support with Cisco equipment, and network performance analysis across our security infrastructure, offering excellent opportunities to develop expertise across multiple networking disciplines while supporting critical defense operations.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Associate's degree in Network Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field and minimum 4 years of experience in network operations, network administration, or related field, or equivalent military experience
+ Current SECRET clearance
+ Current CompTIA Security CE certification
+ Current basic network certification (CompTIA Network , Cisco CCNA, or equivalent) demonstrating networking fundamentals with Cisco equipment
+ Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, and network protocols in Cisco environments
+ Foundational knowledge of network security principles with firewalls, preferably Palo Alto or similar next-generation firewalls
+ Basic experience with network monitoring tools, SIEM platforms (Splunk preferred), or network management systems
+ Understanding of network troubleshooting methodologies using Cisco IOS commands and packet analysis tools
+ Knowledge of basic network hardware configuration and management, preferably Cisco ISR routers and Catalyst switches
+ Familiarity with Windows Server networking components, Active Directory integration, and domain connectivity
+ Basic understanding of intrusion detection systems, preferably Cisco Firepower or similar FTD platforms
+ Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework, DoD network security standards, and NSS/SIPRNET connectivity requirements
+ Familiarity with or willingness to learn DISA STIGs and network security compliance requirements for classified systems
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to technical detail in network troubleshooting
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and coordination with NOC teams
+ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced operational environments supporting classified networks
+ Physical ability to work in secure data centers, equipment rooms, and classified facilities as needed
+ Flexibility to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field and minimum 2 years of experience in network operations, network administration, or related field, or equivalent military experience
+ Military experience in network operations, communications, or IT fields (25B, 35N, 17C)
+ Advanced DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/III certification (GCIH, GSEC, CISSP)
+ Advanced Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCNA Security, CyberOps Associate), Palo Alto certifications (PCNSA, PCCSA), and Splunk
+ Advanced security certifications (GCFW, GIAC)
+ 4 years of experience in NOC operations, Cisco network administration, or telecommunications
+ Basic experience with Cisco ISR routers, Catalyst switches, and IOS command-line configuration
+ Exposure to Palo Alto Networks firewall management or similar next-generation firewall platforms
+ Experience with Cisco Firepower management or other network intrusion detection/prevention systems
+ Basic knowledge of Splunk Enterprise for network log analysis and dashboard creation
+ Understanding of ACAS (Tenable Nessus) vulnerability scanning coordination with network infrastructure
+ Exposure to network packet analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump) for security investigations and performance troubleshooting
+ Basic scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for Cisco automation or network monitoring tasks
+ Understanding of Cisco network management protocols (SNMP, NetFlow) and performance monitoring
+ Experience with network security tools and integration with Windows Server 2022 / Windows 11 environments
+ Basic understanding of network design principles, VLAN configuration, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
+ Interest in learning DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and ATO processes for network infrastructure
+ Exposure to NSS classified network operations and SIPRNET connectivity requirements
+ Previous experience supporting Cisco TAC cases and vendor technical support coordination
+ Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements for government networks (FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, DoD directives)
+ Experience with network documentation tools, change management processes, and configuration backup procedures
+ Understanding of network security integration with DoD PKI and certificate-based authentication
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $77809 - $132275
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
