    Job Description

    The Office of Chief Medical Examiner investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from criminal violence, by accident, by suicide, suddenly when in apparent health, when unattended by a physician, in a correctional facility or in any suspicious or unusual manner or where an application is made pursuant to law for a permit to cremate a body of a person.     Typical tasks include the following:

    - Process all long-term leave requests and Worker's Compensation claims including Advance Time, Dedicated Sick Leave, and 3.5 grants.

     

    - Prepare approval letters for employees transitioning to and from medical leaves.

     

    - Utilize WCS, PMS NYCAPS, CHMRS, CityTime, and any other related systems.

     

    - Prepare approval letters for employees transitioning to and from medical leaves.

     

    - Organize certified mailings to distribute paper checks to employees on leave.

     

    - Calculate and verify employee compensation during medical leave based on leave time.

     

    - Maintain comprehensive leave records and documentation, including filing employee folders, uploading digital files to shared drives, and updating Excel spreadsheets.

     

    - Manage basic timekeeping functions such as processing overtime requests, correcting punch errors, and submitting/adjusting timesheets.

     

    - Process MLAs, supplemental requests, and other CityTime functions ensuring employees are paid and accrue accurately.

     

    - Ensure understanding of employee benefits contingent on different titles and hiring dates

     

    - Uphold confidentiality regarding employee records and sensitive information.

     

    - Conduct agency-specific orientation sessions and other training sessions.

     

    - Perform general administrative duties to support the Human Resources Unit, contributing to various initiatives and projects across the unit.

     

    - Other duties as assigned.

    - Selected candidates will be required to provide a DNA sample by swabbing.

     

    - This position has been identified as essential. During emergency events, essential positions may require 24-hour availability.

    Qualifications

    1. A Masters degree from an accredited college in Library Science, Archival Science, American History, Political Science, or a related area; or

    2. A baccalaureate degree form an accredited college and one year full-time professional experience in archival, records management or library work; or

    3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have the baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.

    Salary Min: $ 51,239.00
