    BJC HealthCare is recruiting for it's next Vice President of Operations and Support Services

     

    This position would oversee a team of 2000 FTE's with oversight of all support services to include Environmental Services, Food/Health, Public Safety and Parking, PCX Operators, Visitor Management (at St. Louis Children's Hospital).

     

    This leader will have oversight of three hospital to include Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis Children's Hospital and Barnes Jewish West County along with many offsite locations.

     

    **Barnes-Jewish Hospital** in St. Louis is the largest hospital in Missouri, a nationally ranked teaching hospital affiliated with Washington University School of Medicine and is the flagship hospital of BJC HealthCare. It is recognized for excellence in numerous specialties, including cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, and cancer treatment through the Siteman Cancer Center and features a comprehensive transplant center and Level 1 Trauma Center. The hospital provides a wide array of services

    **Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital** is an affiliated 108 bed hospital in Creve Coeur, Missouri, providing a variety of medical services with the quality of a large medical center but in a more intimate setting. It offers services including emergency care, heart and vascular services, imaging, sleep medicine, surgical procedures, and is home to Siteman Cancer Center. The hospital features a dedicated emergency department and four medical office buildings for outpatient care, benefiting from a close affiliation with Washington University School of Medicine.

    Role Purpose

     

    The **Vice President, Operations & Support Services** will have oversight of the support services to include Environmental Services, Public Safety and Food & Nutrition areas for all hospitals and related ambulatory and other sites which are part of Barnes Jewish Hospital, St Louis Children’s Hospital, Barnes Jewish West County.

     

    This Vice President will develop and execute departmental strategies and guide departmental and organizational transformations needed to reach financial, service, leadership, regulatory and community objectives.

    Essential Accountabilities

    + Manage individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensure that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.

    + Develop and adhere to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Respond to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.

    + Demonstrate a strong financial orientation by developing and adhering to departmental staffing, revenue and expense budgets. Anticipate and respond to changes in the economic, healthcare, and regulatory environments which may affect the ability to achieve departmental financial, service, community, regulatory and leadership development goals.

    + Help create breakthrough strategies and plans that reflect a deep understanding of how the organization and departments operate, anticipating and incorporating current and potential industry, regulatory, economic and demographic changes and their impact on the departments and the organization. Will search for opportunities to achieve fiscally responsible growth while meeting the department's and organization's obligations to communities served, regulatory bodies and organizational sustainability

    + Conduct disciplined planning and execution on all areas of responsibility; allocating resources toward optimum efficiency and effectiveness while balancing innovative approaches to identify, resolve and manage issues with uncompromising quality, standards and results.

    + Develops self and others, creating an environment where people and the department are highly engaged and accomplish their best results via development, communications, rewards and recognition. Acts with integrity and in an ethical manner. Demonstrates accountability, responsibility and builds mutual trust. Enables and ensures cooperation - collaboration within the department and across organizational boundaries.

    + Demonstrates an agility to cope effectively and lead large scale change and transformation in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Navigates efficiently in complex environments and relationships to achieve optimal results.

    Position Requirements

    The **Vice President, Operations & Support Services** will possess the following combination of skills and experience:

    + Minimum of 10 years of experience and at least 10 years of leadership experience, to include supervisory experience, and a track record of success in significant roles of progressive responsibility.

    + Bachelor’s degree in related field. Master’s degree, preferred

    + Comfortable working in a complex matrix organization.

    + Strong sense of mission and an active, engaged leadership style.

    + Operationally savvy with a problem-solving mindset, high EQ and a high focus on metrics.

    + Clearly knowledgeable in their field of expertise yet able to demonstrate humility and exceptional skills in developing and forging successful working relationships with executive leadership, physicians, and other key functional stakeholders.

    + Strategic thinker with the ability to partner with executive and system leadership in strategic and tactical planning and implementation.

    + Technically savvy with strong quantitative/analytical acumen.

    + Highly successful in driving change within an organization.

    + Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, analytic, and oral and written communication skills. In particular, the ability to foster teamwork and coordination of care among diverse stakeholders is essential.

    + Adaptable and flexible style of collaborating up and down and across.

    + Proven ability to develop excellent relationships, quickly gain credibility, influence and partner with their team, business leaders and the clinical community.
