The Computer Systems Department at Farmingdale State College is seeking to hire a full-time Academic Advisor. The duties of this position entail student advising, graduation, probation, and suspension reviews, examining and reviewing financial aid issues generated by the financial aid office for students each semester, as well as attending Open House, graduation, and training new faculty advisors as needed.
Responsibilities:
+ Advise students and assist them with academic planning and course selection, minor selection, and post-graduation plans.
+ Conduct analysis of financial aid audits and communicate with students to resolve financial aid non-compliance issues.
+ Conduct analysis of graduation audits and communicate with students regarding graduation requirements and protocol.
+ Provide students with information and referrals regarding scholarships, career planning, tutoring, study abroad, etc.
+ Register students for specific degree related courses in Banner.
+ Communicate with the registrar to resolve transcript issues.
+ Provide guidance to students in academic jeopardy: early warning, probation, suspension.
+ Sustain partnerships with individuals and offices across the campus (faculty, tutoring, writing center, disabilities services, financial aid, student affairs, athletics, veterans affairs etc.) to ensure that students are given appropriate guidance and support.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor's degree.
+ Ability to serve as an academic advisor or counselor in an educational setting.
+ Ability to counsel and advise college students individually, assessing needs and offering guidance.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to work with individuals and offices across the College that serve students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Master's degree.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time UUP position.
+ For the first 10 working days, beginning Thursday, September 25, 2025, and ending Saturday, October 4, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
+ CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Open Until Filled
+ SALARY: $57,151 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $61,151 Total Compensation.
