    Description

    The College of Nursing at Texas A&M University is seeking a faculty member with experience in forensic nursing, forensic health care, and vulnerable populations for a full-time (non-tenure track) appointment in Bryan, Texas. The position is a full-time, 9-month appointment with a potential summer contract. Applicants will be considered for the titles of Research Assistant Professor, Research Associate Professor, or Research Professor depending on experience and qualifications. Rank and salary are commensurate with credentials and experience.

     

    The College of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with multiple tracks (Traditional, Second Degree, and RN to BSN), a Master of Science in Nursing with concentrations in Family Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Education, and Forensic Nursing, as well as a clinical doctoral program (DNP-Leadership). We also offer a graduate certificate in Forensic Health Care and post-graduate certificates in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Future plans include launching a PhD program, an LVN to BSN, a BSN to DNP in Forensic Nursing, a DNP in Extreme Environments, and additional graduate and post-graduate certificate programs. We are a growing college within Texas A&M University, with programs located in Bryan, Texas (primary location); Round Rock, Texas; and McAllen, Texas.

    The position will be located in the Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing (CEFN), a College of Nursing and Health Science Center entity. CEFN is leading the state and nation in educating forensic nurses and delivering quality health care through its telehealth program. Expansion into research is the next step for CEFN and this position will lead the development of CEFN’s research program.

    Responsibilities include:

    Research/Scholarship

     

    All research track faculty are expected to generate and disseminate new knowledge consistent with rank. General expectations include active participation in research and scholarship, and dissemination through publications/presentations. Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following research activities:

     

    + Assists with and provides scientific direction for research studies relevant to forensic nursing, forensic health care, and/or maltreatment in vulnerable populations;

    + Provides independent contribution to the development of original research proposals as co-investigator or principal investigator;

    + Secure salary support derived from successful grant funding;

    + Supervises research personnel;

    + Plans and executes research studies;

    + Conducts advanced statistical analysis;

    + Prepares and submits manuscripts for publication;

    + Composes and presents research at conferences;

    + Collaborates on interdisciplinary projects;

    + Provides scholarship and research mentoring support to College of Nursing investigators in order to expand and advance the college’s research portfolio.

     

    Service

     

    All faculty are expected to participate in service activities to the University, the College, and to the profession. Additionally, engagement in community service opportunities are encouraged.

     

    The anticipated start date January 1, 2026.

    Qualifications

    Required Education:

    Earned PhD

    Required Experience:

    Experience in research methodology and advanced statistical coursework, and professional peer reviewed publications in the areas of forensic nursing, forensic health care, or vulnerable populations as a lead or co-lead author.

     

    Research experience related to conducting and disseminating nursing research primarily focused on forensic nursing, forensic health care, and vulnerable populations. Experience with complex, multivariate data analysis, literature synthesis, and ability to write scientific articles and report findings commensurate with a doctoral degree.

     

    Experience in developing successful grant proposals at state and federal levels.

    Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    Strong writing, public speaking, and presentation skills.

     

    Ability to lead as well as to function as a strong collaborator on interprofessional teams.

     

    Highly organized.

     

    Professional demeanor.

     

    Ability to multi-task and establish effective working relationships.

     

    Knowledge and understanding of the mission and role of the Land Grant University System.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Post‐doctoral education

    Earned PhD in nursing

     

    PhD in a related field with at least one graduate degree in nursing

     

    Successful completion of a one-year post-doctoral fellowship

     

    Demonstrated ability to publish in top tier academic journals
