    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    The Security Application Engineer Intern is responsible for developing and maintaining HCA Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) applications. The scope of this responsibility is solutions targeted for enterprise wide deployment.

     

    High-level duties also include creation and implementation of standards, guidance, and processes for GRC software solutions.

     

    This role supports solutions driven from complex legal requirements and business risks driven by the HIPAA Security and Privacy rules, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, PCI DSS, HITECH, and also emerging cyber attacks threatening the theft of sensitive and private health information.

     

    The Security Application Engineer Intern will help drive the software solution strategy in GRC related to these areas in support of the CISO’s mission for information protection across HCA. The result of this work is crucial to HCA’s strategy for compliance with government regulations and also internal policies, standards and guidance to ensure the safeguard of HCA’s proprietary data, physical infrastructure and resources from internal and external threats.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    This individual will implement solutions based on requirements gathered from many departments across HCA, HCA IT&S, and their customers. This individual will also be responsible for foundational software on which HCA GRC solutions are implemented.

    JOB TASKS

    + Given a business need, assists definition of GRC solution requirements.

    + Assists in development and deployment of GRC software solutions per design specification.

    + Assists in technology selections that impact GRC solutions.

    + Assists in technology integrations with GRC solution frameworks.

    + Assists in software development and source control guidelines and templates.

    + Assists in solution requirements and design specifications.

    + Assists in secure coding practices and methodology

    + Assists in consulting with customers, business owners, and stakeholders.

    + Assists in review and testing of GRC applications.

    + Assists in the mentoring of technical personnel on GRC software solutions

    SKILLS

    + The Security Application Engineer Intern requires diverse skills including software solution design, data modeling, database design, and programming.

    + To fulfill the responsibilities of this position, the Security Application Engineer Intern should have the following expertise, training, and knowledge:

    + Secure Software Development lifecycle

    + Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)

    + Unified Modeling Language (UML)

    + Threat modeling & Analysis in large environments

    + Familiarity with Vulnerability scanning tools

    + XML/XSL

    + Oracle, Teradata, DB2

    + AIX, Unix, or Linux host experience

    + CISSP or CSSLP certification

    + Microsoft Certifications MCPD
