Job Summary and Qualifications
As the Data Domain Steward, you will serve as the primary custodian of data integrity, trust, and usability within a defined data domain. This role bridges technical and business functions, translating operational knowledge into data governance standards that support strategic objectives. You will ensure data is accurate, timely, and fit for purpose by defining data quality rules, validating data processes, and implementing resolution protocols. You will also support the organization in better understanding the value and risk associated with data assets.
Success in this position includes working with multi-disciplinary cross-functional teams across the enterprise. A customer service mindset and the ability to collaborate with partners from multiple and diverse backgrounds is crucial to excelling in this role. The nature of projects and solutions ranges from foundational data products to use case specific solutions including the enterprise implementation of the MEDITECH Expanse electronic medical record. Ideally, this role has deep hands-on experience with clinical terminologies (LOINC, ICD-9/10, SNOMED CT).
Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence:
+ Define and maintain business rules and data quality requirements for critical data elements within the domain.
+ Help assess and articulate the business impact, risk, and value of data assets to drive prioritization and stewardship activities.
+ Partner with data producers to understand their daily operations and how data is created, transformed, and used.
+ Collaborate with Data Governance and Engineering teams to validate and QA data quality rules and metrics.
+ Investigate and determine appropriate resolution paths for data quality issues, facilitating root cause analysis and preventive action plans.
+ Support implementation and ongoing monitoring of data issue resolutions to ensure long-term data integrity.
+ Create metadata documentation for assigned data domains to support discoverability and reuse
Data Advocation:
+ Advocate for data literacy by contextualizing data definitions, usage, and quality expectations within the business domain.
+ Champion the responsible use of data by clarifying appropriate data access, handling practices, and interpretation guidelines.
+ Provide input into self-service data tooling (e.g., data catalog, business glossaries) to ensure domain-specific accuracy and usability.
+ Collaborate with training and analytics teams to educate stakeholders on proper use of domain data and quality benchmarks.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
+ Act as the central liaison between business stakeholders, IT, data governance, and analytics teams for domain-specific data issues.
+ Represent domain needs in enterprise data governance forums and working groups.
+ Foster collaborative relationships with upstream data producers and downstream consumers to improve end-to-end data stewardship.
+ Support cross-functional initiatives by contributing domain-specific data insights and ensuring alignment with enterprise data standards.
+ Drive accountability by transparently sharing data quality findings, trends, and remediation progress with key stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
+ Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or Similar field is required
