Job Summary and Qualifications
What qualifications you will need:
Position Summary:
The Respiratory Care Assistant (RCA) will provide respiratory therapy to patients by performing assigned duties under the supervision of a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner. Additionally, the RCA will assist respiratory therapy staff by caring for patients, disinfection of respiratory therapy equipment, performing limited clerical duties, as well as duties within the scope of practice defined by the SC Board of Respiratory Care. Further, the RCA will support quality of care by demonstrating proper orientation, competencies, knowledge and skills in mode of therapy outlined by the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC).
Position Requirements:
+ Education: Current student with successful completion of the first year from a 2 year respiratory program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Respiratory Care (CoARC).
+ Experience: Computer skills including but not limited to Excel, Windows, and PowerPoint. Filing skills and knowledge of ordering supplies required.
+ Basic Life Support certification on hire
+ Experience: Current student with successful completion of the first year from a CoARC accredited respiratory care program
+ Special qualifications: Performs in accordance with delineated job responsibilities and satisfactorily completes yearly evaluation based on these responsibilities. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet the needs of the patient/internal and external customer.
Degree of Supervision Required:
The degree of supervision involves general guidance from the Director of Respiratory Care as well as direction from the Respiratory Care Department Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioners. The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the Respiratory Care department and the Facility.
Ages of Patients Served:
This position requires competence in assessment, treatment, and/or care for the age groups indicated. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training, or experience.
+ Vocational School Graduate
