We are seeking a visionary and collaborativeEngineer Manager 1 (Design/Construction Engineer) to be located in District 1 – Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to lead a dynamic team of Engineers, Project Managers, and Technicians who are passionate about public service, safety, and innovation.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    As anEngineer Manager 1in theDesign/Constructionsection, you will oversee a team of engineers and technical staff responsible for delivering transportation projects that connect communities, improve safety, and enhance mobility throughout Idaho. You’ll guide project development from concept to completion, ensure regulatory compliance, manage budgets and timelines, and cultivate a workplace culture that reflects our commitment to excellence and service.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

    + Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers and technicians

    + Oversee design and construction of highway and bridge projects

    + Ensure compliance with state and federal engineering standards

    + Resolve project issues, execute change orders, and maintain safe work zones

    + Manage budgets, schedules, and quality control for assigned projects

    + Collaborate across ITD districts, headquarters, and external stakeholders

    + Promote a culture of safety, innovation, and accountabilitty

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Licensure: Licensed in Idaho as a Professional Engineer (PE); or be eligible for comity licensure by the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers in accordance with Idaho Code, Title 54, Chapter 12; AND Valid driver's license.

     

    Good knowledge of: state and local government operations pertaining to a specific engineering discipline.

     

    Level I knowledge of: management practices.

    Experience:

    + Supervising staff; interpreting and applying federal, state, and local laws pertaining to a specific engineering discipline;

    + Evaluating engineering projects and making decisions relative to their merit;

    + Writing engineering reports and correspondence;

    + Reviewing and critiquing engineering analyses; making oral presentations to groups relative to the merits of engineering applications.
