Overview:

Are you a strategic product leader passionate about transforming legacy systems into modern, customer-centric solutions? We’re seeking a Senior Product Owner to lead a diverse portfolio of capabilities across branch equipment, ATM experience, and data/sales enablement. This is a high-impact role focused on driving innovation, managing a team of Product Owners, and delivering exceptional employee and customer experiences through agile software development. You’ll be at the forefront of technology renovation, guiding the transition from outdated platforms to modern, scalable solutions. This role requires a masterful blend of agile leadership, stakeholder influence, and visionary product strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Lead a team of 4–6 Product Owners, providing coaching, performance management, and strategic direction.

+ Own and evolve the product vision for Consumer Product Capability Delivery, aligning with enterprise goals and customer needs.

+ Oversee a diverse portfolio of software capabilities, including branch equipment, ATM experience, and data/sales enablement.

+ Drive technology modernization, guiding teams through renovation initiatives and agile transformation.

+ Facilitate quarterly product planning, agile ceremonies, and cross-functional collaboration with teams such as risk, analytics, finance, marketing, and distribution strategy.

+ Engage with senior-level stakeholders (SVP and above) to communicate product strategy, value, and prioritization decisions.

+ Champion design thinking, customer feedback, and data-driven decision-making to deliver measurable outcomes.

+ Manage financial forecasting, reporting, and resource advocacy for product delivery.

+ Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and inclusive leadership.

Education and Experience Required:

+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

+ 10 or more years’ business, analytical, technical and/or product experience

Education and Experience Preferred:

+ 3+ years of people leadership experience

+ Master Agile Practitioner with deep experience in agile frameworks and delivery.

+ Proven success managing large software portfolios and leading technology renovation programs.

+ Strong negotiation and influence skills, with the ability to build alliances across complex organizations.

+ Demonstrated leadership experience (3+ years) in people management and agile team enablement.

+ Background in software delivery lifecycle from programs to initiatives and projects.

+ Experience in innovation, product mechanics, and enterprise-level stakeholder engagement.

+ Excellent communicator with the ability to articulate strategy, value, and prioritization across diverse audiences.

+ Experience in agile coaching and product delivery best practices

+ Familiarity with design thinking and customer experience strategy

+ Strong understanding of digital capabilities and modernization efforts

+ Background in financial services or enterprise software environments

Work Model & Office Location:

+ This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days in-office per week

+ Eligible candidates must live within commuting distance to 1 Seneca Street, Buffalo, NY 14203

Anticipated Travel Requirements:

+ Employees in this position should be prepared to travel at least once per quarter within the M&T Bank east coast footprint.

+ Travel may occur more often than this and is based upon the needs of the business and projects assigned.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $136,787.30 - $227,978.83 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
