    Job Title: HVAC/R Service Technician

    Job Description

    The HVAC/R Service Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance on chiller and boiler units, focusing on both their electrical and mechanical components. This role involves supporting equipment such as chillers, compressors, purge units, cooling towers, pumps/motors, valves, boilers, and unitary equipment. The technician is expected to maintain excellent record-keeping standards, including refrigeration and operation logs.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform routine maintenance on chiller and boiler unit’s electrical and mechanical components.

    + Support equipment including chillers, compressors, purge units, cooling towers, pumps/motors, valves, boilers, and unitary equipment.

    + Maintain refrigeration and operation logs.

    + Conduct major repairs on chillers and boilers following EPA guidelines.

    + Recover refrigerant, replace O-rings, gaskets, seals, bearings, and other components.

    + Perform boiler inspections and PM teardowns as per state of CT code guidelines.

    + Work on cooling tower gear boxes, drive couplings, intermediate shafts, fan blade pitches, centrifugal pumps, and seal replacements.

    + Work with equipment brands such as Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, Smardt, and McQuay Centrifugal, Reciprocating, and Screw Chillers.

    + Adhere to all EPA regulations during service and maintenance repairs.

    Essential Skills

    + Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

    + Ability to perform preventive maintenance.

    + High School diploma or equivalent.

    + Post-secondary vocational or technical school diploma in HVAC or Refrigeration from an accredited Institution.

    + Possession of D1, D2, S2, S1 licenses or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.

    + Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field.

    + Clean driving record.

    + EPA Certification.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Boiler and steam experience is a plus.

    + Experience with CFC and HCFC refrigerant recovery equipment.

    + Proficiency in using hand tools and understanding of hydraulics.

    Work Environment

     

    The technician will receive a work truck to perform service calls. The role involves field service work, requiring adherence to safety standards and regulations. The work environment is dynamic, with opportunities to work on various HVAC/R systems and equipment brands.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Windsor, Connecticut.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
