Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Piping Designer to implement assignments and activities as delegated by the Group Supervisor. You will execute project objectives by collaborating with drafters, designers, engineers, and support personnel in planning, scheduling, quality control, and execution of projects. As a Piping Designer, you will manage the completion of all required deliverables including construction drawings, design studies, and bills of materials.
Responsibilities
+ Schedule work assignments and provide guidance, training, and assistance to designers, checkers, and drafters on small to medium-sized projects.
+ Manage a segment of a project under the direction of the assigned Group Supervisor.
+ Coordinate with client and construction personnel to ensure job requirements are consistently implemented in line with contractual requirements.
+ Assist in preparing engineering and construction estimates and additional project-related documentation.
+ Estimate project design and drafting manpower requirements.
+ Approve final drawings to ensure they conform to applicable codes, specifications, and established discipline standards.
+ Maintain engineering document indices and drafting progress reports on projects.
+ Ensure checking and approval for all vendor shop drawings.
+ Perform all other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum 7-10 years of piping design experience within the power or energy & chemicals industry.
+ Strong CAD skills with experience in AutoCAD, Microstation, or Revit.
+ Ability to independently organize and prioritize work assignments.
+ Proficient in CADWorx, Navisworks, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam Revu, and Smartplant.
+ Overall understanding of technical disciplines and project execution.
+ Strong supervision skills with the ability to mentor, lead, train, and motivate employees.
+ Ability to clearly communicate information and ideas verbally and in writing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School diploma or Associates Degree with adequate drafting courses.
+ Preferred experience with Plant 3D and/or Aveva E3D.
+ E in Chemical/Refinery/Power/LNG.
+ Experience with Autodesk or Bentley Structural packages, AVEVA E3D, or PDMS software is preferred.
Work Environment
The work environment is a general office setting operating in a fast-paced environment. Occasionally, work may take place in an industrial location where noise levels can be moderate to high. Job sites may include light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment, and tools. Noise levels may include bells, whistles, and other sounds.

This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $90.00/hr.
