• Research Associate - Upstream

    Responsibilities

    + Support routine laboratory work including cell passaging, lab cleanliness and maintenance, sample creation and labeling, in-process sample analysis, inventory organization, waste removal, data collection, and review.

    + Responsible for cell passages while ensuring proper labeling, handling, storage, and disposal of all chemicals and solutions.

    + Assist with high throughput, routine, lab, and pilot scale vector production to support process development and cross-functional material needs.

    + Assist with experimental design, execution, and analysis to develop LVV processes.

    + Cross-train across the broader Process Sciences team for routine laboratory support of downstream and drug product operations.

    + Contribute to equipment troubleshooting and optimization of lab processes, including AMBRs, Biostats, BDCUs, and centrifuges.

    + Maintain clear records of experimental work using an electronic notebook system that adheres to company guidelines.

    + Communicate data in cross-functional meetings.

    + Some overtime work is expected to accommodate process and project needs, with flexibility in schedule.

    Essential Skills

    + B.S. in biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, chemical engineering or related discipline with 1-3 years of experience; alternatively, an associate degree in life sciences or similar with 2 years of experience.

    + Experience in operating general lab equipment such as cell counters, balances, pumps, pH/conductivity meters, and pipettes.

    + Excellent communication skills with the proven ability to build open and collaborative relationships and work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

    + Self-motivated with strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience with process equipment (Bioreactors, AKTA, tangential and normal flow filtration systems, mixing systems, etc.).

    + Experience with single-use bioreactors and centrifuge setup.

    + Experience with maintaining rolling cell passages.

    + Experience with buffer/solution preparation.

    + Experience with sample management, lab management, KANBAN, six sigma, electronic notebooks.

    + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and prioritize work across multiple projects.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $32.93 - $46.63/hr.
