Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Data Entry Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The role involves compounding data entry for up to 350 prescriptions per day, entering formulas for prescriptions from e-scribe, fax, and verbal sources. You will review prescriptions, collaborate with prescribing providers to ensure completeness, and clarify any discrepancies.

Responsibilities

+ Accurately enter prescription data, patient information, and insurance details into the pharmacy system.

+ Answer incoming calls and respond to inquiries from patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies in a professional and courteous manner.

+ Communicate prescription status, insurance coverage, and medication information to patients.

+ Assist pharmacists in processing refill requests, prior authorizations, and prescription transfers.

+ Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and pharmacy regulations.

+ Perform other administrative tasks as needed, such as filing, scanning documents, and inventory management.

+ Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Essential Skills

+ Pharmacy technician certification

+ PTCB certification required for entering verbal prescriptions

+ Experience with Epic or other EMR systems

+ Data entry experience in a pharmacy setting

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Compounding experience preferred

+ Registration in TN preferred

+ Some compounding experience or knowledge

+ Experience in data entry with 80-300 prescriptions per day

Work Environment

You will be working in a fast-paced environment with a first shift from 9 AM to 5 PM. The facility is 5,000 sq ft, with an expansion underway to add 4,000 sq ft. The team currently includes 6 pharmacists, with a total staff of 30. There are 6 hoods in place, with 8 more being added as part of our expansion. The organization is a startup pharmacy with plans for rapid growth, offering leadership opportunities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
