    Position Summary

    RSI is recruiting ahighly motivated Senior Hydrogeologist to join our Groundwater Program supporting projects for the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Legacy Management. The Senior Hydrogeologist will lead complex projects involving groundwater and contaminant characterization, conceptual site model development, long-term monitoring, remedial design, and performance evaluations.

     

    The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of hydrogeologic principles, practical field and project leadership experience, and demonstrated expertise in conceptual site model development and advanced groundwater modeling (analytical and numerical). This role requires a strong balance of technical expertise, field oversight, and project management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and regulators.

    **Status:** Full-Time

    **FLSA:** Exempt

    **Hiring Range:** $125,000.00 – 140,000.00 per year.(The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

     

    This position is required to travel10%of the time.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    + Lead multidisciplinary groundwater and environmental projects.

    + Act as main point of contact for clients.

    + Manage projects including, development of scopes of work to address groundwater issues, create associated budgets, schedules, and staffing plans to execute work.

    + Lead project scoping efforts and overall project direction for legacy contaminated sites with input from cross-functional teams.

    + Perform the acquisition, organization, and analysis of environmental field data, groundwater evaluations including modeling, statistical and geostatistical evaluations, and conceptual site model development.

    + Lead development of complex numerical flow and transport models to develop groundwater compliance strategies and assess their performance.

    + Lead development of project documents and presentations.

    + Support and mentor staff.

    + Interface with senior management and stakeholders.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience

    + Masters or PHD in hydrogeology, engineering, geology, or related physical sciences field.

    + Approximately 10 years of relevant experience.

    Licenses and Certifications

    + Valid Driver’s License.

    + P.G. or P.E. preferred but not required.

    Required Skills and Abilities

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    + Expertise in field characterization.

    + Experience overseeing well drilling, coring/sampling, and monitoring well installation.

    + Expertise in data acquisition and evaluation.

    + Proficient with scientific software including ArcGIS, Python, R, and others.

    + Expertise in MODFLOW or other relevant groundwater modeling software. Proficiency in PEST/PEST++, and IES preferred.

    + Expertise in conceptual site model development.

    + Knowledge of statistics and geo-statistics methods.

    + Expertise in three-dimensional visualization and evaluation.

    + Expertise in programing and scripting.

    + Strong foundation of knowledge in geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, and geophysics.

    + Expertise in remedial design and evaluation.

    + Expertise in regulations and standard requirements.

    + Preliminary knowledge of groundwater flow and contaminant transport fundamentals.

    + Ability to learn and implement integrated work control processes, readiness reviews, health and safety and field project closeouts.

    + Expertise with project management functions (i.e., scope, schedule, and budget), including subcontractor oversight.

    Essential Physical Requirements

     

    Medium: Work involves moving objects by exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an above-negligible amount and up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
